I saw this at my buddies house and asked WTF it was. Its a Walden Compact Disc. Basically, someone took a longboard and cut 3 feet out from the middle of it. Its 6'6" and about 22" across the middle. He let me borrow it for a few days. I'm expecting it to be super fun.
and you can't get anyone to shape one like it even if you beg. Man Ive asked shaper after shaper to do one for me like that one and they all say the nose will dig....I say let me worry about that and they always end up not shaping the board I want with that meat up front to get into and play in dink waves. i dont understand...I have seen and owned a couple of waldens that were shorter but that thing is on time...IT WILL BE FUN
If you are still looking for a shaper to try and shape that model for you search google for "Darby Surfboards". His name is Chris Darby and he shapes in Charleston. I had him shape two boards for and he did exactly what I wanted. 1 was a template i stole from the Channel Islands POD (just tweaked a little) and the other is a Standard shortboard with a wider core for the inconsistent surf here.
thanks guys....I'll try the guy in Charleston next time I get a board shaped...right now Im settling with what I got with the economy the way it is every dollar counts and santa is only taking care of my daughter this year...although I am stoked that my wife (after 15 years of marriage) finally agreed to a 50" plasma TV that we got early. FUEL tv looks great now. I would love for someone to shape me something real similar to a Rusty horney toad. those things just look sweet for this area! RC has shaped my last few a I have been real happy with his longboards....just not totally what I wanted with the 6'4" he shaped as far as the nose width. PFOX just bought they sweetest 8'6' mini long epoxy RC from STE and let me ride it. My first was amasing. I am terribly jealous. waiting for P to die and leave it to me but hes younger than I am so just waiting for him to let his gaurd down long enough for me to poison him or something...evil LOL!!!
shrekis....grasshoppa...what is in a name...he can call it a den inch tildo for all i care....that board will be fun
yeah, I really have alot of respect for kelly but he tends to add stuff that I dont particularly want....maybe what I want is not the "ideal board" but its what I want. Again, kellys a great guy and shaper....sometimes you just cant get folks to see your vision and thats not their fault....
Walden CD Yeah, those boards are pretty sick. They actually have a couple at Hot Wax in Wilmington. They have the cd4's which are even shorter and I believe quads.
quads are cool for when its small but still has some punch to it...pop out two of the fins for a twin set up. variety
