Yesterday had some fun waves in New jersey, put in a good amount of hours. After a couple of hours being on the mainland my chest started to hurt. Now every time I lean on my chest or put pressure on it, it hurts. This happens most times I surf for over 3 hours. It feels like a bruise however I have no idea. Just wondering if this happens to others and these others know anything about it. Thanks for the help
Bruised sternum bro? Could at least be tender if not bruised. Overuse injury if it always happens over 3 hours. If I'm you, I'm saying thanks for 3+hr sessions and sucking up the chest pain. Oh wait, I totally recall that this could all be irritating your third nipple...
There was a thread about this a while back give it a search if you'd like. Basically the jist of the thread was that the pain is bruising from pushing your chest on your board, usually on people with out allot of muscle on there chest. I don't know though I never had this pain. My chest will crack after a session sometimes but I enjoy that.
Quite common after long sessions, especially if you haven't been out for a while...to ease your mind if your anxious about it, have it checked out.
Gaff posted up a neat contraption that is a best offering padding and subsequent elevation of the torso for those with low back issues. The chest pad would help here. btw BassMon bro, that's quality management of archived material. Keeping the break clean here!
Long ago when I went to a longboard for a few years I noticed the same thing. Now that I ride mostly small to really small boards that sink under my weight I'd doesn't happen anymore. I never figured out how to stop it.
