No but they warn when strangers come near guinea hens scream really loud. my neighbor bought 10 to eat the ticks. I saw them cause he just set them loose and i walked up on them wondering what they were. About 10 ft away they stopped went still and stared at me, I did the same, as soon as I twiched they started screaming at air horn decibal. It was so unexpected, it startled me so badly I hit the deck.

what about the US's transgressions? or yours for that matter? the meat you eat requires the clearing of forest for the growing of livestock feed destroying the habitat and the mass killing of numerous species of wild animals.

if you eat animals, drink animal fluids, and eat animal menstruations you support animal suffering so don't call yourself an animal lover or pretend to care about the slaughter of sharks, cuz you're not and don't.

and puuleeeaze don't tell me its necessary for human survival, cuz its not.

I don't like what China is doing, but before you go around pointing fingers at others for their actions, look at your own first.

I haven't read anything in this thread yet, but I clicked the first page and this is the ad that came up... Ironic right?? And I can assure you nothing in my recent searches would warrant that ad to come up.

You can feel it's wrong to kill a threatened species and still eat a burger chief.

Archy aside from veganism what do you do?

Do you dissipate the chemtrails you warn us about. Do you use money?

I'm laughing at the thought of being surrounded by guinea hens while laying in my backyard...and they're looking at me all silent like...

Since the day's almost over let me elaborate to Archy...

1/ The polarizing, all or nothing mentality presented in that post contributes to the stigma environmentally concerned citizens like myself face. We need to be realistic when discussing this stuff, and 90,000 plus years of an omnivorous lifestyle will be hard to break. You will not convince the global population to go vegan....

...man I'm not as motivated as I thought....

More tomorrow, I gotta get outside, Godspeed Crackers!

if you knew the price of the burger you enjoy, IE: you are contributing to the death of endangered species, then I say your a hypocrite.

well than an environmentally concerned citizen like yourself should know that the meat industry is the largest contributor of pollution on the planet. FACT!

no all or nothing mentality here. I just choose to be more conscious. nd no I don't spew bout chemtrails n such cuz its a waste of time. those in power are gonna do what they do and I cant change that. and yes I use money unfortunately. not by choice though cuz its just the state of the matrix we live in. everything cost money at some level. (except for the best things in lfe) I do however choose to spend my money on the little guy doing the right thing and not on some mega corporate crap. I vote with my dollar, not at some pole where the outcome is already decided.

And that is why I rarely eat beef...if I had money I'd buy meat from local farmers until then I eat birds. I know the ag industry is wrong, but I do eat protein. Only reason I reacted that way is you got all warchild on me. Sorry, but I could eat factory birds and still say **** China.

So I'm on a kindle(that I won for free at work) and its hard to type...here's a short list of how I try to help even though you ducked the question: I pick up trash from beach and trail, I plant native species, I minimize my beef consumption, I don't use ANY fertilizers. Pest control, or similar chemicals, I contribute bare minimum to the global economy(>40 k on paper, yeah I know), I keep a small garden, donate at least a hundo a year to wolf sanctuaries, voice my stance on predator control to the swine in Washington, the occasional spikeboard or other monkey business...not tooting my horn but I do what I can with the resources I have, and don't think it's fair to label me a hypocrite because I eat a little meat.

Also, I keep a rather modest standard of living. And if you guys want to start a backscatter campaign and help me get housing in to I won't have to drive anymore.

***backscatter was meant to read kickstarter

kudos bro for doin all that stuff. your alright with me. I wasn't goin all warchild on you just stating some facts. and when people are presented with the truth that goes against their belifs/habits they view it as an attack, so sorry if you took it the wrong way.

responding to the question what do I do: I buy local as much as possible, also have a garden and compost everything to put back in the earth, I plant fruit trees Johnny Appleseed style, always pickin up trash, and outside of my work I bicycle everywhere. I have a bike trailer for beach/grocery trips. im educated in and practice foraging wild edibles and take advantage when certain wild goodies are in season. but I also try to educate people in a cordial manner. im in no way a militant vegan and I don't push my choices on people. but people are often curious about my actions so the conversation often arise about my choices. to push stuff on people likely leads to resistance.

you might say that's contradicting to my response to your thread, but I find forums an open discussion on anything. cuz it really urks me when I see stuff like the Sea Shepard guy doin his thing because he believes the whales have a right to live just as humans, but is an obese f**k from eating cheeseburgers from cows that he pays someone else to kill and that the cows life matters less. some might say cows aren't endangered, but the environmental impact from livestock is making humans the next extinct species. the oceans fish stocks are 90% depleted. that's endangerment no matter if certain species are on some list or not.

Nah archy, same to you man. I just felt like mentioning Warchild I guess. Props for what you do. The thing that kills me is i know I could do more. I would eventually like to go the vegetarian route(or kill my own deer, birds, etc), and I admittedly don't have what it takes at the moment in terms of time, money, etc.

I must say I've grown tired of talking about this stuff w/ the misinformed(specific sh!t like the predators, cattle, etc) but I try with the whole awareness thing. Some people are just completely clueless.

So you do a bunch of good stuff. But you buy surfboards and wetsuits. So you do you part to be green unless it prevents something you like?

we are all human, and nobody is perfect. the bike I ride is somewhat toxic, but its better than driving everywhere. like I said earlier the meat, dairy, and fishing industries are the worlds biggest polluters. this is a fact. more polluting than all commercial and private forms of motorized travel combined. compared to surfing, surfing is hardly a blip. am I happy that what I do is toxic? no. have I cut down on the number of boards and wetsuits I purchase? yes. have I been experimenting with new technologies that promote longer board and wetsuit life and less toxicity? yes. I am conscious of my choices and actions, and try my best to reduce my footprint. no more to go coffees. haven't bought a bottle of water in 3 years. I don't contribute to the largest polluting industry on the planet. I try to grow as much of my own food as possible. I throw nothing that is compostable in the trash. I try to buy local as much as possible. I don't purchase crap I don't need or stuff that is of a designed obsolescence. I can go on, but since your getting on me for partaking in a toxic activity i'd like to ask you, "what you do?"
