I did this last year and it was fun to try some different shapes and sizes in the extremely crowded line ups. Have not bought one bec of the price.

you guys should check it out. Whenever CI or Merrick is brought up, there is a lot of love and hate, but anyone who hasnt tried out their newer shapes and designs should go down and check it out if they can. I tested a few CIs last year and was surprised by the results....

    Why not....

b/c it's cool to hate on CI & call them pop-outs, even though they aren't.

hopefully i won't be working when they're in ocnj & will be able to check it out this year...

yeah i think they're definitely great boards, but probably a little expensive for the average surfer's budget. i wouldn't call them popouts but i know they have a few shapes used by surftech. i would love to have a dumpster diver or the neck beard, but no one is even gonna sell those used during the summer for under 300-400.

CI Black Beauty step up is a dream in head high waves... point breaks especially. Hated it on the east coast held on to it till I moved overseas. Awesomeness.

My first real shortboard shape was a CI Flyer and I really liked it, but I would never buy a new CI at full price. I'd like to demo some of the new models like the Neckbeard or the Motorboat, but then again it would probably just make me want one...

i have a few in my quiver & i def. wouldn't if i didn't have the connection i do. but i think it's funny how people rag on CI for their prices, but no one says a thing about ...Lost's prices, which are in general, only about $50 less than the price of a CI.

RobG- go try out a motorboat, neckbeard, & whatever else, but be sure to get the dims. off of it. then stop by & see your local shaper... :p i'm kinda looking forward to trying out the dagger model, just to see how it compares to my latest stubby from brian wynn.

last year I tried the wizard sleeve and the dumpster diver. Had a lot of fun and both were really nice in their own respective way but at $600-700+ its just out of my price range. Still keeping an eye out for a used one for about 300 but it doesnt look good

Yeah, thats the plan. They have some really cool shapes so I'm sure I could find something I like and have someone else copy it pretty easily. Or maybe give it a try when I finally get the time/space/balls to shape my own board haha.
