So I have a nickel sized hole in the crotch of my 6 mil and I have a patch I am getting ready to sew onto it this week. Anybody have any similar experiences with this? I've patched suits before but mostly summer suits or tiny pinholes. Gonna get a new suit for next winter when the time comes and stick with this one for the next couple months of cold water, I know some will say just get a new one now. I know there are other posts related to this but I'm most interested to hear if any of you have successfully patched a sizable hole in this area and/or also recommend putting the patch on the inside of the suit as opposed to the outside. Also gonna cement/glue the seams of the patch after its attached.

    Thanks in advance gang

Use the thickest dental floss you can find, sew in an x pattern, and cover with neoprene cement. I've had patches hold for years

Hayduke's got it right. Sew the patch in and add neoprene cement. If you're still not satisfied, put an oversized patch over the original patch and cement. I've patched something similarly sized on the outside of my suit that got me through a season but I replaced the following year.

Depending on where it is on the crotch it may see considerable stress from stretching so make sure to take your time and get it right.

If all else fails, throw on a neon spring suit over your 6 mil and you should be good, it'll improve your surfing as well!
