I'm looking at the report for Friday Jan 16 at St. pete and i have to ask why is the graph showing just above waist high for the day but the written report to the left is saying angle high ? Am i missing something?
Probably the same reason that surfline says my spot is 8-9ft and Swellinfo says its going to be waist to head high. Computer error or people just don't know what there doing! The only other explanation is that the average will be waist high and it will be decreasing threw the day to anke high.
Hi, good question and yes this is a little confusing. We are actually going to change this around in the next major Swellinfo upgrade, but I'll explain. The graph is showing potential surf heights for exposed areas. So, for Friday (today), the wind is out of the NE, so since St Pete faces SW, the NE swell will pass right on by. But, the beaches to the north (ie. indian rocks beach) that face more NW, will pick up a little bit of that northerly wind swell. Does this make sense? The next upgrade is going to provide killer graphs, and the explained confusion will no longer be an issue.
reply Thanks for answering and yes that makes sense.I did some more reserch and found sand key was probly going to be our best bet but still wanted to be sure.[started my new job today so didnt get to make it out, was s.k clearwater swellin up or what] Cant wait for the upgrades, and KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK .Thanks again
