Has anyone tried to travel with a surfboard on continental during the holidays? Im going to nyc from ns dec 17 for a family trip, but surfline airline fees article says continental won't accept surfboards during christmas? does any one have any experiance with this?
Check their website and call customer service. I have flown boards on Conti a couple of times and my experiences were a good ones. if you are shut down, call a surf shop near where you are staying and arrange a rental.
I've never had a problem on Continental and I have flown out with boards to see family in San Deigo and Orange County during the holiday's many times. I remember reading on thier website that some locations do have excess baggage embargos at certain times of the year so your best bet is to check the policies on their site.
http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/content/travel/baggage/sports.aspx according to the website, you look to be good to go, as long as you are not toting a log longer than 9-6. definitely call and talk to a real human being, though. is the one hundred bucks (us) in your price range? can you rent a board for less when you arrive?
