Ok so I have been surfing for a year ( - the winter in maine ) I have been looking online and Costa Rica has more surf camps / lodging then Maine has tourists. Any one have any places they have been to they like. The wave hunter website seems good but how do I know im still a kook.I want a place that I don't have to figure stuff out and drive around on my own and a place I can rent boards.A guided tour I suppose. My girl does not surf and may want to roll with me also. Im 45 y/o and 220lb. if that helps. Any info appreciated. Thanks a lot. J.
surfcosta.com had the best time there this summer. PM me if you have any questions. i think they also post on here. hands down best surf trip/vacation with the gf i have ever been on (been surfing for 13 years and traveled to many places). the guides i had were great - jorge and robert. beautiful location, great waves, and lots of other non surfing activities to keep the girl happy. they will pick you up from the airport, be down to take you wherever you want to go, surf with you (if jorge is your guide), take you to the best places to eat, waterfalls, zip lining, rafting, ect. they are more than accommodating (many days i woke up at 5 to surf and they were running around with me til late in the evening). i have had friends who stayed at surf costa and at similar places in costa rica, and everyone i know agrees that surfcosta was the most fun. good luck, and if you go tell them dan kennedy recommend it to you on a message board (i plan to return next year).
Santa Teresa is great. Waves are generally great! Let me know if you need guide, boards, rooms or transportation. I have some local friends there who run services. Also, check out my daily video surf report, it will get you excited. Each morning I post a 45 second clip of the day's surf from Santa Teresa...it's killer. http://www.barefootinpublic.com/surf-report Enjoy...Live The Lifestyle!
