Just wanted to see if anyone has ever used couchsurfing.org as an alternative to spending $ on a hotel. I'm going to San Francisco for work and will likely stay a few days longer to surf.<br /><br />San Francisco questions:<br />1) Water temps in mid-October? I'll check online before I pack but I'm just curious. <br />2) Surfshops where I can rent a fiberglass shortboard? 3 days and possible flight down to SD doesn't justify me bringing my board<br />3) Any suggestions for quality spots are also appreciated. I will definitely check out Ocean Beach unless it its TOH but SF spots are pretty well documented on Surfline and Wannasurf<br /><br />Thanks!
My neighbor hosts several couch surfers this past year and he's had no problems with them at all. In fact, I've met a few of the travelers and found them to all be pretty cool.
