most of those used surfboard are in good shape and priced well . Here in nj they want 250 for a beater , lol . wtf . no board bag next time i fly out , its good ole craigslist board shopping
there are soooooooo many boards and shapers here. I have gotten ridable boards for 40 bucks. you cant even get a set of fins for 40$ CL is hard to navigate with flakey people who dont always do what they say they are going to do, how long is your vacation? you will spend a portion of it chasing down those boards
i was there about a year ago , i was on maui for 2 weeks working , then i was on oahu 3 1/2 weeks ,stayed at a good friends house right on sunset about two houses from the beach , right across the allie from eddie rothman . i did nothing but find apples ,eat papia and loco moko (if those are spelled right) surf sunset and kite surf "goats " the whole time was there . Made friends with some crazy locals by handing them a pork roll sandwich . Got the nickname ranga Best waves i have ever surfed and lucked out that summer . i was told its rare for sunset to be 3 to 4 feet and goats head high that time of year . Such a great vibe when you find the right peeps out there , they kinda treat you like family . Friends been bugging me to head back out , but finances has been short this year but can't wait to go back to them both Oahu, and maui .
LOL you filthy fantapants! Were you here this summer? there was like a 2 week + run of head high surf in august, kinda rare for the north shore love that area, love goats, love the break past sunset, my favorite area when wind is right so yea a 5 week adventure worth craigslisting. 1 or 2 week vacation, not so much lmk if you come back
Damn you Surfin! I had to go check out Hawaii on CL and you are right, there are quite a few on there in really good shape for dirt cheap. Supply and demand
correction 2 years ago my bad , had to check that . Yeah a few peeps that were raving about how summer always suck for waves . But i didn't get one day on Oahu where there were no waves , small but plenty of waves and really no crowds . i found it intimidated paddling out at sunset being from a sand bar and all to a reef . Always imagine being caught inside on one those waves i have always seen in the mags growing up . and that whole thing at sunset where you have to line up with that house coming in and do the paddle with the fins on top just to get past the shallow reef . Thats nuts . the whole time out surfing i could not get that image out of my head .A monster wave having my name on it and part of the reef too . It was a banner of a trip , on maui even went to the top of the creator at 4 in the morning to watch the sunrise and froze my @ss off in boardies and hooded sweatshirt . lol , Goats i totally fell in love with , great wave to surf and kite . And that break next to sunset , freddyland or velzyland ? the one was not really breaking and velzyland seemed to be occupied by a lot of locals at the time so i stayed clear . But yeah i will be heading back in the future , can't pass it up again when there is free room a board there .
Kammieland and backyards are next to sunset. Vland/freddys is down the road east a little ways. I had a lot of fun at freddys a few weeks ago...
