hey guys, i just bought a new leash from one of the NJ premierre surf shops and paid top dollar.
it's a good leash and the cashier clerk said it should hold up fine to my demands.
so i tied it up to my board and the other end to my foot, but as im walking from the parking lot to the water it keeps on tripping me up and gets my feet tangled.
i've noticed that it was folded weirdly in the packaging when i bought it, but do you think it's expired?
i asked a buddy of mine what i should do and he suggested maybe ironing out the creases but i dont know because he's not a real surfer.
    what do you guys think?
should i go back to the store and exchange it? i think they should at least refund me if all of their leashes are like that. for $28.89 i dont think i should have this problem.
    thanks for all the help!

    All leashes suck at first.
Take it out on a bigger day and get thrashed around a bit.
It will stretch out and straighten.

I would tie it to your car bumper on the cuff end, while the other end is still attached to the board. Then place the board between fence posts perpendicular to each post. Gently then roll your car forward to stretch the leash without also snapping the bort in half. If you do snap it in half, get a longer bort and try it again.

I would not under any circumstances iron the leash as it might ruin your iron,

    Grab a hammer & 1 (one) nail.
Locate a wall for proppere placement. Remember, the nail should be atleast as high as your leashe is long. Very important!

Reach as high as you can, hammer said nail into wall.
Hang leashe from said nail. By the next time you get waves (2 months), your leashe should be properly straight.
Additionally, some vaseline lathered all over the cord will speed up the straightening process.

I hope this advise find s you well!

    Sick advise, Betty.

Another option is to climb up a tall tree. Tie one end around your neck. Standard leash knotte will do. Tie the other end around a sturdy branch. Now jump out of the tree and your body weight combined with momentum should straighten out all the kinks in the leash. If not, repeat several more times until straight. Your welcome.

Wow V, that's a little harsh. You might of suggested he hook the one end to his belt (rather than neck) .. at least he'd have some fun with his jolly jumper.

Hmm, never thought of that. I was just passing along the method an old timer adviced me to do. Worked for my kinked leash in just three jumps.

Put it in the microwave for about 5 minutes, that will help soften the material. Then tie one end to a tree branch and a cinderblock to the other end. Leave for 2 weeks.

Dip it in surfboard resin. Nice and strong, super straight!

    T,

    The solution is simple.

Commandeer the windowless white van of duct tape & doom with, of course, waynetheinsane straitjacketed inside.

Park the windowless white van of duct tape & doom near an elementary school.
Affix the leash cuff around waynetheinsane's ankle.
Affix the other (string) end to the engine block of the windowless white van of duct tape & doom.
Open the door of the van.

Inside of 5 minutes that leash won't have a crease on it.

thanks for all the helpful advise! i knew i've come to the right place.
i fear this might end up being an uphill battle with a non compliant legge roppe but the will to succeed is as strong as ever, and i shall try all of your suggestions one by one.
in fact, i already tried scobey's! i tried hanging it up on the closest wall to stretch it out but noticed it was halfway laying down on the floor. i knew i needed to get a little higher. which i did... wait... what are we talking about?
