I took a crap in the water at matunuck. It dettered my friend from my getting some waves until it sank.

I think we have a winner here.

I've always wanted to charge first street in july with nothing but my log and the smallest speedo I can find. Maybe when my meds run out.

This is a great tactic by the way, buried in all the BS. Totally passive yet completely effective. I did this last week when I was caught in a crowd, baited a guy into a wave to clear him out because I saw the next set coming through. Don't underestimate everyone's desire to not miss a wave.

We don't get sick because we don't surf in cesspools like NJ.

Sounds like your attempting to break your own rules.. d*mn hypocrite. I'll be down there this winter, I'll look you up. We can spit all over the beach and out into the line up together. I'll even do you a solid and save all of my spit and lungies in a jar until then. I'll smuggle the green stinky down there and let you have the first whiff. If your down we can give it a burial at sea. We'll set those slimers on a boogie board and push it out into your most popular lineup on a day with some 20 footers. It'll be fun. Then we'll have a beer and laugh.
There are more concerning things in the ocean than that guys booger that just floated by me. Plus, up here in the great north, we wear these things called wet suits. It's like a modern day suit of armor. No snots be getting through one of these babies. Jus sayin

The best approach is to surf where few others do. i.e. MAINE in late fall, winter and early spring. Last Thursday, good swell, had the whole beach to myself. There, the secrets out.

I also spit a lot, but it really doesn't seem to bother anyone.

Another idea is to get deeper than everyone else (longboard). If you consistently get the waves earlier in perfectly fair fashion, people will get frustrated and move. You're not doing anything wrong and it works.

Sitting WAY OUTSIDE will not make you many friends. I'm not insinuating that you need them. Christ-a-mighty... Share, Play nice. You northern guys spit, piss and crap all over each other... Man I'm glad I moved down here with all the "crazy rednecks"

That's my tactic too. I also like to sit shoulder to shoulder with one of my boys. Well both drop in on the same peak and split it. That way were both inside and have priority over the others. No one can back paddle either. When we get an impolite one in the lineup, well paddle in front of his ass and block all the waves. Pretty effective.

Florida Dog of Surf, I agree spitting is repulsive and vile. However, being raised in a toxic spew of sewage and Ciba Giegy chemical waste(dumped 1 mile off Ortley Beach, thank you) I started spitting in the water. I mean, Florida Dog of Surf, the water in NJ back in the 1980's was pretty foul, so I would constantly spit. It became a habit. If I happen to swallow the water I would start achhhrrrrrrrrrrr'ing to churn up the stuff and I almost got vomity.

Yes, spitting is bad but it was necessary back in the days of old. Now it's a habit. But I usually space myself from other humans in the water so, it's all good. Oh man, one time five years ago, I was all dope sick and paddled out anyway......you don't want to know what went on that day.........Just ghastly.

The Lowers raid video is a classic! Been wanting to try that out at the Juno Pier for awhile, but organizing surfers is like herding cats. Another one I like to do when there is a bunch of newbies and longboarders out and there are long lulls, is when the first wave comes I go "PARTY WAVE! Everybody GO!" At least half to three quarters of the lineup take off on the first set wave, and the rest of the set is left to sort out amongst 3 or 4 of us as laughter erupts.

I chew tobacki every time I paddle out, somewhat of a ritual, Copenhagen Long Cut if you want to get technical about it...so I'm constantly spitting...this technique has never cleared any peaks to my knowledge. Just sayin', this mofo be sprayin'.
