Less than 3 months after the towers fell I have this kid giving me shit on the beach at Hat Rin for days, it was the US's fault, how I should pretend I'm Canadian so as not to attract attention, blah blah blah. That night I was egged on, not to give him a sand bath, but "give him a good knock about the head". A sand bath shut him up, and he was cool with me after that. In fact I had a good conversation with him about Algiers and France a few days after, but yes, he pulled my punk card and I responded in kind.

Concerning the original thread and my initial post, I think I come off as a woman hater and I'm not. I just hate self entitled attitudes and the double standards a lot of women like to play. I always tell my daughter there are a lot of women that surf better than dad, and I encourage her to do anything she wants to pursue.
She WILL understand the rules of the road and WILL have to come up like any grom or grommet and pay dues like us all.
AS far as the French and Paris, I'm sure it is a beautiful city and I don't mean to sully your memories of enchanted evenings in the "city of lights".

Lot's of beautiful cities in the world, but none better than ANY city in the USA.

My wife speaks Parisian french. It is still the language of Moliere, Voltaire and Racine, no different. When I speak French in Paris, the locals are amused my attempts; when my wife speaks it they are enchanted by her command of the language--she used to teach French at the Univ of Maine in Orono. The present french language in France is worse off than Quebec due to the huge numbers of Algerian phrases in the language--their "Royal Academy" is going berserk trying to keep it "pure".
If you have never been to Paris, go, and take your daughter with you- she will love it, I assure you. We will return next year; this year we have two other destinations booked already. It is clearly my favorite, and for me no american city comes anywhere close to it, imho.
