So I live in galveston but I'm planning on moving to the San Diego area this July but I've been saving for a new custom longboard. I know some of the local Texas shapers can do some deals but then I wonder if I should hold out until I'm in San Diego so that I could get a locally shaped board made for conditions there. I want my board to still be able to handle the gtown chop but also be able to handle some good Cali surf and I assume I could save more money getting it done here in Texas. What to do what to do... Any comments or opinions would be appreciated.

You got the right idea man, get it from somone local that knows the SD waves. Maybe set something up before you get there, put down a deposit, and try to time it to be finished around the time you arrive.

That would be ideal. I guess I need to start researching shapers in the area. I wanted to possibly get a mini Simmons made too, you think thatd be better off being done in the SD area too? Or is that kind of a universal/general shape that can work fine if just made to my body specs? Thanks for the feedback.
