Look at the wave maps, and it will help you understand the swell. The low pressure system pops off North Carolina, so to the south there is southerly swell and to the north a E/NE fetch develops.

OMG, think of a big ol clock spinning off of the coast.........for the sake of our sanity we will say the clock is a crazy clock and it is spinning counter clock-wise......Now imagine up in NJ is 12 o'clock........and those North Carolina dudes are all hanging out at Slammin Sammy's at aboot 6 o'clock. So the winds up at 12 o'clock are swingin in on Snookie at a NE direction.......While down in the Confederacy, located at 6 o'clock, the winds are coming from a Southerly direction. Just picture a big ol crazy clock spinning off the coast, with Jersey at 12 o'clock.......and NC at 6 0' clock. Thank you.

Real quick, I'd like to thank PapaD for making my reentry a smooth one. I am so self-conscious and scared and confused. Also, it's been so long since I've seen anything over waist-high that I's scared. Yeah, I scored waist high zippers this past Saturday at an undisclosed Southern NJ spot. I watched an Ocean City, NJ cam(pantless) of four dudes fumbling around and I felt sorry for them.
