Any advice on doing a fabric inlay on a poly board?

Broke my fav longboard, have it back together, was thinking a fabric inlay would hide some of the flaws and make it look cooler than it was. Just never did one before.

Use a thin natural fabric like silk or cotton and do a small test on a scrap of foam to make sure the ink will be color fast before applying to a board. Create border with pigmented resin and make sure you use a quality high temp masking tape for this so your tinted resin doesn't bleed.

Here is a link for cloth from a company I buy a lot of my supplies from or you can go to a fabric store: http://surfsource.net/store/category/hawaiian_inlay_fabric/

Cool. I got a nice cotton bamboo print from the fabric store. Good advice on the test. And pigment border.

lay down your tape first, then lay down another layer of tape to make the edge higher. You'll see the tape edge better and get a neater cut. Lay your cloth over the tape, and when the resin gets to the B stage, fold the tape up and cut the fabric along it along the double tape edge. When fully cured, tape off the edge of the fabric, and another strip of tape to get your pinline border.
