They are making a mess of themselves. The reasoning is a joke. If the Hawaiians were good enough and put the time into the QS and CT, they would be in better standing to compete at the masters. I am happy with the change in format. I really wanted Mason Ho in the Masters but he didn't spend all year and all his money qualifying to surf the masters like everyone else in the CT.
Im English and I demand that there be 1/3 of the spots at Wimbledon to be for UK pros regardless of their ranking or time they put into the tour because they are locals.... see? Doesn't really Jive.
If I were DaHui I'd host my own contest and spend more time on protecting the coast from developers. Surf contests are so radical and important.
I kinda liked that there were 16 wildcards in the Masters. Kinda can get boring watching the same 32 dudes surf all year long.
Sounds like an attempt at Affirmative Action for surfing. It doesn't work. You want to be seeded for contests? Put in the time and the effort to become a better surfer. Just because you're a certain race or ethnicity should not give you an "automatic" or any other type of free pass.

I've never understood how Da Hui commanded respect, i've always thought they were tools. This sueing makes me chuckle in a I knew it sort of way. Dont mess with Da Hui or else they might roll up on the local break and lawyer up.
Sounds to me like a once feared gang is no longer feared and therefore they have no power and their only recourse is legal action, which will get laughed out of court. Suge knight was once feared in the rap game but now he gets knocked out on the regular. The bigger they are... the harder they fall!
