Because they are afraid of being ostracized. A good friend of mine is a cop, and he speaks out. On the force for 15 years And gets bottom of bucket, while others only serving five get better hours, beats, squad cars, etc.

DPSUP, I'm going by FBI statistics. There are approx 500 deaths caused by cops in 2015. Of those about 485 were justified.

What's your solution? Reform? Who's going to carry out that reformation?
We have to think logically and not emotionally. Yeah there's police brutality. I'm a victim of it.
But to just cry Refom! without looking how that will take place isn't going to make things better.
The Dallas police chief was right on in telling BLM that if they are not happy with the police in their communities then join the force. Be the change you want to see.

As the saying goes, 'lies, damn lies & statistics.'

Those 'justifiable' killings by police that you cite are usually ruled as such by internal police investigation / advisory boards, which have come under heavy, heavy criticism for being anything but impartial/objective in their conclusions.

As well, the FBI doesn't investigate 500 killings by cops per year, so I wonder what exactly you're citing there.

True true, but 500 is .00000175% of the population. Where the cry for medical reform? The #3 cause of death in the US.

We could discuss medical reform, too. Butt the topic at hand is cop culture & the shootings. There is no relationship between death by cop and death because a nurse mis-read one's medical chart. So let's stick to the topic at hand.

you just grab whatever info flies past that you like.

I'll say this again. You've been tailor made by the machine that you think you are raging against. They made you into a silly cartoon that nobody with any intelligence could possibly take seriously. Easily defeated because you defeat yourself.

I know a guy who retired from the PD in my town. He was brought back as a contractor to screen police officer applicants. After some time passed and he hadn't recommended any to be hired the commander came to him and told him he needed to start approving some applicants. My friend told the chief that none of the prospects were suitable for hire. They had various issues with temperment, decision making, backgound concerns, etc. He eneded up quitting that gig because he couldn't in good conscience approve any candidates brought to him and didn't want to have the liability if he did.

I never said there was no problem. Go back and read. I've been a victim of police brutality.
And read my quote of the Dallas police chief.
Right now the Gov solution is the Fed, which IMHO will create more problems.

So how many of us believe that the deadly force incidents were justified?

And how many of us believe that those incidents were skewed in favor of law enforcement?

Most of the current issues our country is currently experiencing are due to how the media is portraying them and our reaction to them. But it appears as of the last decade that the general public is much more likely to challenge any type of law enforcement, particularly in the physical sense.

I absolutely agree that shooting someone should be the last chance scenario, and we all know that police are trained as such. And it has been proven a few times in the last decade that certain cops overplayed their hand and subsequently went to prison for doing so.

OTOH, there have been far more incidences of justified shootings where the cop was legitimately trying to save his own bacon, while the media left out extremely critical facts so a different narrative could be played out in the court of public opinion.

I hate dirty cops and wimpy cops. But if you were faced with what you believed to be a life or death situation at that very moment, would you rather be Tried By 12, or Carried By 6?

I place our nation's current dilemmas squarely on the current administration. Their loyalties are laid bare for the world to see.

Given a proper AG, Obamas words could probably be used against him for "inciting a riot". He has encouraged the black population to the recent misdeeds. He has no effect on NH police departments--they wave to him as he drives by, using one finger, of course.....
