exactly, it's like rolling ONE dice. There is equal probability to roll 1,2,3,4,5 or 6. If you roll it 100 times and 5 comes up the most that DOES NOT mean that 5 will come up the most for the next 100 rolls. Each roll has independent equal probability or something like that. Rolling two dice is a completely different story.
I think we all agree. My comment was not to argue any point to the contrary. I was just saying, that technically, over the past 10 years, had you taken off every wednesday for surfing, you would have scored the peak of every huge swell I can remember on the west coast... It is nothing but a mathematical fluke, I was just saying, ni recent years, the data is available and it has been recorded, so if I had to give an answer, at least out west, you would have to say wednesdays.... I know it has nothing to do with anything, but for 10 years, wednesdays have been the money days... for whatever reason. The weekends are always terrible... its funny. Cause my weekend is tues/wed.... i love it.
yes there are a lot of swells on Wednesday same as any other day - but, because of the Johm Milius classic movie from the 70s, your brain is tee'd up to notice this more prominently, so you have what is called a "meaningful coincidence" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchronicity
yes< i agree. Nice link =) But as far as the big wednesday thing, I am aware of the film, and the southern california surf media has pulled that card every winter for 10 years. If you look at your past issues os surfer mag and stuff there are references every winter to another "Big Wednesday"... So yes, all of our minds are pointed down that road, however, it only gets 20ft+ out here ever so often and it actually has ONLY been on wednesdays.... some thursday leftovers, but just for this past 10 years, all coincidence aside, it is true. Wednesdays were better. every winter. So, it mean nothing as far as going forward, but like I said, I have had tues/wed off for years, and I have been very lucky... thats all it is. Luck... It may never be over 3 feet on another wednesday for years, but for a decade, wednesday has always been the day to miss work.
