Dear SI Admin, So it's been over a month since ya'll updated this esteemed surf predictin' site's forum with all it's new functionality. (big thanks for returning my avatar). How are the numbers compared to the 30 days before, and compared to the same period a year ago. No shame in saying you screwed up, we're all friends here. Just curious. Best regards, sisurfdogg
This place IS very dead. Would love to hear from the mods.... Sometimes it seems like this was their ultimate goal.
I’m certainly not helping the problem, but over the past few weeks I’ve popped on at work and don’t think more than 2 new treades have been added. No bueno amigos. What gives? I personally like the new layout better, this place was having problems before anything changes IMO
Could it have something to do with there not being a way to start a new thread from the mobile version of the forum? I can’t find it anywhere, am I blind? 99% of my time on here I spend on my iPhone 5s., so if the admin could make the start new thread button more accessible it would probably be used more often. If there is a button and I’m just missing it, someone please direct me to it. Also, how the hell do we PM someone on here? Again, referring to the mobile version of the forum here. Things just aren’t organized, obvious that little has been done since the launch.
Someone’s gotta keep the lights on. I’m not nearly as active in here as I once was though. Not as fun without assholes like you.
Sure traffic is directly related to how much we are surfing/checking the forecast. Only a select few actually post on the forums... most people who come to the site are here just for spot forecasts and data. They make theirs... January is always a slow month for surf opposite the fall where you see traffic spike. Just the change of the season. The forum change will not change much other than weeding out some whining trolls.
Surfline changed their format to something called "Surfline Beta" around the same time as this craphole changed theirs. It was even worse. Coincidence? The weird thing was that the format changed only on my home PC but the old format remained on my mobile. The weirder thing is that last week the Crap Surfline Beta site returned to its old style format on my PC. Guess what? I actually use Surfline again. Skip changing formats. Want better numbers? Change administrators.
While I didn't spend much time on here before the change, I'm less likely to be here now. Was going to post a few pics of hurricane damage but, why bother? It was hard before and I haven't bothered to try..it does seem like the owners did something to discourage posting. Is it cost? Gotta hand it to DawnPatrol...IIRC, you and I started here about the same time, and your 15K+posts beats my 150 something!!
It's still cool. Lots of photos, videos, and posts of good links and humour and an occasional piece of advice I would follow IRL. I think a periodic shwag giveaway would boost the numbers. Contests. For best forecast, best post, most posts, worst post, whatever, just to create some buzz. Easier access to PM features and a few other tweaks mentioned would be helpful. Any more advice I'll have to charge a fee. Peas and waves.
