No interest in that video at all. Doesnt even look funny. The trailer itself was so lame it deterred me from even wanting to give it a look. Dark Fall was just OK. I dont get why so many people are on that Dark Fall crews jock at all. Most of those guys are kooks. I dont care how well they may surf. Im not hating on those guys trying to make something for themselves, but they do seem to ride a little high on their short horse. I know enough people who do know them on a personal level and the **** I have heard definitely reinforces the "*****" label with a few of them. But in reality, now that I give it a gram of thought, no one in that neighbor hood over the age of 19 really gives a crap about them any way besides their little circle of surf hipster friends.

Hate to burst your bubble but Gessler, the Kellys, Hammer, Humphries and Gleason are some of the easiest going rippers you will ever meet. Perhaps its you???? Perhaps you were in the way or were still covered in Marlton stink. Just saying. Haven't seen the new flick yet. I'll download it this weekend.

Animosity much?? wasn't talking sh!t on Hammer, Humphries, or Gleason at all. In fact I haven't surfed with them before so I have no room to talk on them. If you did however read my other posts you'd know I've surfed with both Rob and Chris as well as Matt Keenan and yes they are all super down to earth guys, very chill and fun to spend time in the water with. Gesler on the other hand, I have witnessed him being a douche in person multiple times. The encounter I mention was my only personal run in with him and was in no way shape or form in his way when he was surfing (even if I was, from the way I'm seen him surf he'll run someone over in a heartbeat), I was out in the lineup and complimented him after he paddled back out. I've seen him snake people and drop in on people on different occasions. The guy has massive skill, but that doesn't give you the right of way in the water or a free pass to act like an ass clown. This is only my opinion from what I've witnessed as another person out in the water. I'm not talking smack on him as a person because I've never really talked to the dude, for all I know he could be the nicest chillest guy once you get to know him. And I'd rather have a marlton stink than your uppity ocean city stench anyday.

Ive seen some ridiculous behavior out of all of the SJ guys, a measure of a person isnt so much how well they treat their friends, but how well they treat strangers.

granted it gets crowded and people are there to surf, not to earn nice points, however with their high profile they are quasi ambassadors to the sport. yikes, eh?

That's what I'm sayin. I understand in the summer time it gets stupid crowded with all of the tourists, beginners, and people that don't know what their doing out in the water. And to us it can get frustrating and downright irritating. Usually from late september to early may everyone in the water has AT LEAST some basic knowledge and water skills and is generally more respectful to others. I go by the principle treat others you want to be treated, and do my best to follow that year round (as tough as it may be in the summer too) and give respect to everyone whether they're a pro, a beginner, an old head, and even kooks. We're out there to have fun and one person in a bad mood can spoil it for a lot of people. Like I said earlier, just because you have a ton of skill in the water and on a wave doesn't give you entitlement to everything out there.

So you haven't seen either movie "Because Gessler is in it" and you're calling someone you don't know a douche but there's no animosity????

In your first reply you say you've been in the lineup with the guy....and I quote "A FEW TIMES" and describe a single instance of douche baggery real or perceived. Next your talking like you've been in the lineup with him a bunch and seen him being a Douche multiple times. Which is it?

Been surfing with Gessler and company since they were little kids and haven't seen any of the things you claim. That's why I have to wonder if it's you. Don't be hostile. No need to even respond back to me. Just remember the old saying that when you point the finger at someone else there are three fingers pointing back at you and that sometimes if you don't have anything nice to say.......

If I lived somewhere else I might not even give Dark Fall a second look but some of it was practically shot in my back yard and I've known some of the guys in it since they were groms. As surf movies go it was pretty decent......as a surf movie in the North East and NJ it was pretty much the first of its kind.

I saw one of them giving a surf lesson (to a 25o pound baby-huey lookn mother****er) in the middle of a crowded peak on Northend NJ on early summer head high swell. thats a KOOK move

gotta make that money, I get it, but take it off the peak

I could go on and on and on

We'll I'm responding. I understand and validate your point and looking back at myself when blaming others, and I agree with it. I'm still entitled to my own opinion, which is he was rude as hell when I was trying to compliment him. You're entitled to your own opinion as well, and your know him personally so your perception of things might be viewed differently than someone who doesn't know them on that personal level. And since there appears to be a miscommunication between "a few times" and "multiple times" I'll be more clear. I've been with him in the water at the same break roughly 5-7 times. Apologies if what I was said was lost in translation and interpreted that I surfed with him "a bunch" of times. With those few times I have seen him in the water though, I've witnessed similar behaviors including selfish take offs and blatant disregard for those in the water he did not know. Once again, my viewpoints on him are based on an EXTREMELY limited amount of time spent with him in the water, a decent time ago. I normally surf different breaks now and have not seen him lately. I'm sure if I had the opportunity to meet him and what not, my opinions would be change. He is not the SOLE reason I have not scene either movies either, partially maybe, but not entirely. I still want to see dark fall and might download it, but after seeing the trailers for death to hipsters, it didn't really spark any interest.

those south jersey cats are a bunch of douchecanoes.they come up north when we get good swell and try to snake every wave.funny thing about rob Kelly/chris Kelly, they are originally from pa,and he moved to jersey and in 3 years,(3 yrs surfing) he turned pro and got sponsored by billabong.thats a success story

Like I said, it was OK. That little sandbar of a barrier island is my back yard too. I would have liked to have seen more East coast coverage. The HI and fijii clips were cool but too long. I guess I was thinkn more of a representation on East Coast in general. That woulda been proper i think.
I will say Hammer, Gleason and Humphrys rep NJ and East Coast respectably.
