So, the wax is building. As is the salt. At first it was adorable, no longer. It won't ****ing come off.

I refuse to destroy my beetle.
I refuse to destroy the bronco.
I will no longer abuse my daily driver.

Anyone here have a designated surf car/truck/van? I'm weighing it out as a viable option. Soft rack buckles and wax have made my roof look awful. No more will I suffer this paraffin insurrection. I am the master of my own ****ing destiny mother ****er. Sand and wax will not rule my whips.

You should check out one of the 50 surf vehicle threads.

Why not just get a board bag?

Take up surfing for couple of months and you need a dedicated surf vehicle? You should learn how to surf first. Not being a douche, just honest.

6 months now as of Oct.

As for the bag, I got a dakine one for the longboard. I think the sand and salt are my bigger worries at this point in the game. Daily driver is getting trashed in a hurry.

The wax will eventually come off, it's those mean buckle marks that are bothering me now. Salt I'm assuming will eventually be an issue.

A thule rack is or even some Mequier's cleaner wax (for the car) is way cheaper than a new vehicle

Just buy a real rack, and a bag for your shortboard. Use a rubbermade container for all your damp surf crap in the trunk. Problem solved.

I have three little kids. You think your surfboards cause a mess in your cars? I run with an emergency potty in my minivan. Last beach trip my 4 year old dropped a duece in that potty on the parkway, while my 2 year old was happy as hell rolling along with a diaper full of $hit. That was a fun clean-up stop.

Implying I'm in the upper echelon of society. Why thank you kind sir, being eloquent has its advantages, such as being allowed in such a venue.

You should try reading a book and voting republican. Upward mobility my friend, financial prowess will follow. ;)

You have many options before buying another vehicle just for surfing. Sounds like your house is looking more like a used car lot than a home already.
    A. don't leave your boards on top of your car on a scorching hot day for so long. It will also lead to delams of glass from foam...
    B. You could go as far a rhino lining or even plasti-dipping the roof of your vehicle. It will peel off when you are ready. You can use white too. There are many different options similar to this.
    C. Sand can be vacuumed off and salt can be rinsed. Have you not seen a million surf videos of dudes thrashing 1980's vehicles around in the sand and surf..? These vehicles seem fine to me still.
    D. wear this salty dirty waxy vehicle as a badge of honor. It shows people without saying that, "yes I surf and therefore am cooler than you"

I like restoring old cars, money buckets is all they are. Got wrapped up in the bug for longer than I care to admit.

I've seen the plasti dip on a few cars, never white though. How textured does it look in white?
