HOO-EEE does assateague have a wild side. one time in a 'mare' brawl they (the horses) stampeded directly
on top of my 3yr olds' tricycle. ruined it.

heck no. heres' a couple others that come to mind. a 30ft whale shark that made a kiwi surfer walk on
water. my pal oscar clocking a sea lion with a right cross to the jaw. a 100 ft long jelly with tentacles as
thick as my thighs. a walrus that successfully menaced me to kick out elsewhere. entering somethings'
mouth (small) that thankfully chose to let go in stinky ol ac. others upon remembrance. oh - one more. being knocked off my board hard by (SOMETHING?) that left a 10 in x 10 in slime patch on my butt….

And you know the mark of an AI newb: foam coolers. Always amusing to watch those horses rip those foamies open to get at the contents.
There's vid on YouTube of this very porky woman trying to push a wild horse away from her gear.
What an idiot (her). Happens at about the 2:45 mark, but it's incredible that the horse waited even that long to slam her.

Also fun to watch is when the NPS ranger rolls onto the beach in his pickup & sits there idling & watching the band of thieving horses from about 30 yds away; the horses start sulking & acting like, party's over Bob, let's go Milt, and they slink off to the dunes as the ranger sits there giving them the stink-eye. They know that truck.

My ex wife's father worked at the Federal Park as an administrator for 25 years. He had great stories of people walking into his office threatening to sue for being bit while feeding the horses. Never once did a lawsuit ever happen. Not like there aren't signs EVERYWHERE.

happily. thanks for asking and if memory serves i have more…..

in VENTNOR, phillip island, victoria i'm checking the surf from the cliff and stoked cause its 6ft AND ONLY ONE GUY OUT. as i'm pulling on my wettie i see the only surfer out sprinting across the top of the water - like he
was walking on water - made it to the reef, burned it across it then sprinted up the cliff (like an iron-man)..
only to face me who asked "whats up?" his only words were 'biggest firkin fish i have ever seen anywhere"
so i looked out and there it was..10 meter shark. i didn't go in but found out later at the pub that
the whale shark was a regular, known by the fishermen and only really shocked tourists (??!!?) (ha-ha)….

next san gallan the national park in central peru near paracas. our boat pulls up to the 'boat access only'
island. its good, about 4ft and clean so off the bow jumps oscar morante (Jr…sr. was on that trip rip friend)…
immediately 6 to 8ft sealion goes face to face with him and says something like "warf" and oscar just
clocked him. right cross to the jaw and away went the security staff. oscar said that wasn't the first
time he had done that (??!!)….

the jelly was at punta rocas, peru. it was easy 100 ft long, with tentacles as thick as my thighs. i just
paddled in and took a break cause the thought of a jelly THAT COULD ACTUALLY CONSUME ME made
    me consider switching to golf.

the walrus had a den at the end of the point where it met the sandy beach and is also where
the wave caballeros ends in punta hermosa, peru. so you finish your wave, lie back down on the board and
turn to paddle back out only to be greeted with gtfouttta here gringo tourist!! well, so to speak in walrus.
he meant it and the locals said he does it all the time… big long tusks….

in ac something grabbed half of my wet-suit-booted foot and shook it vigorously then let it go…..still don't know…what.

in ocnj i'm sitting in a 10 guy pack waiting for waves when WHAM (that fast) it hit my ass, knocked me off
the board. i screamed so loud EVERYBODY heard me and since nothing else happened the other surfers
assumed i was deranged which i may well be but half my butt was covered with slime….

one more from oz - my pal drew picks up a stick and then picks up a BANDED SEA SNAKE and casually
asks the gang on the beach if they know what kind of snake it is….which, of course had the entire beach
    running to climb a tree…

and another from peru. i'm surfing pacasmayo (not pasamayo) which is at the base of a
mountainous sand dune. well from out in the surf zone i see my vw getting broken into and robbed.
so i tried to run vertically UP A 500 meter sand dune…..which, of course i couldn't but i could see
the crooks laughing at me…they took my wheels, cassette deck and all my springsteen tapes…

    thanks for listening.

I moved to Delaware about a month ago. My most successful surf sessions have been Assateague National Park. Had a decent evening at the inlet but it's an extreme shore break and not fit for longboards at least from what I have observed. The other two I haven't checked out.
