Why is deleware be clean with a south west wind and Md choppy? Is it because the direction deleware beachs face are differnt then the direction Md beachs face?

yes. in addition, there is additonal fetch exposure in the ocean arm pit from fenwick island to pea island where the wind may be SSW causing bumpiness to refract and affect the OC SE exposure.

delaware beaches face between 85 to 90 degrees (due east around fenwick to a little more north as you head north).

maryland faces around 100 to 105(south oc). This makes a big difference. Ocean City will generally big bigger on a steep S swell, while delaware will be cleaner with SW winds.

This is why the 2 forecasts will vary slightly depending on swell direction and winds.

Apircot Orchard fires on NW swells. It only breaks on a 3 ft @ 21 seconds megaswell.
