Because none of us are actually real. We're just figments of your imagination. You should probably seek help. Maybe a combination of meds and therapy. The voices in your head and hallucinations will slowly fade with time, if you're not too late...

Don't worry kid; you will grow older and find a job that will allow you to screw off pretty much all you want...generally happens around age 30. Some are lucky and get on it earlier, some a bit later. But it happens to everybody. Get a job with the US Government. You can screw off all day, make 6 figures, and practically never get fired. Then you get a decent pension after 20 years, and you can live by the beach and surf all you want. Or you can get rich.

You obviously have no idea what really happens in an office and what people get paid for.

I typically sit by myself in my job site trailer. I have work to do but, being a recent graduate, I am excellent at putting things off right up to the point where they become critical. This gives me a large amount of free time where, if i wanted to, I could post on SI.

Right now i have 3 submittals to return to subcontractors, an RFI to submit to the architect, 2 change orders to write, as-builts to track down, and two schedules to update.. But here I am, once again, captivated by the creatures on this website out of my peripheral while looking at what surf may be on its way. I wouldn't change a thing.

I wake at 4:45 everyday to check the bouy, if there are waves Im gone. If not I decided If I want to go for a swim/skate/or go mountain biking. By 630-7 Im hungry enough to come home and make breakfast, I eat, read articles on building off the grid structures (which I am in the process of currently), and make plans based on the forecast when there are good threads I join the discussion. By 8 I go to work, If I work later I do whatever I want before work. After work I usually go climbing, my posting is sporadic and often misses days at a time.

So the answer is yes, I work, I also do what I enjoy. Its all about finding balance young man.

Yes we work, and you will too when you grow up. Doesn't mean you can't have fun.

I have no real experience with this, but I took a class called sustainable building practices and I am pretty clever when it comes to drafting software. Lets do it boys. Could go for my LEED AP... so your buildings (colony) could be LEED Certified. or you could go for the Living Building Challenge which is a little more rigorous and requires the building be net zero water/electric. All sounds like a good time to me. I want out of VB but I'm going south if anywhere.

This makes me think, maybe somebody should start some sort of entrepreneurship thread. Having surfing in common is something that could fuel a profitable venture. Lets start some businesses and make America great again. I have an idea for a revolutionary computer/technology invention... any surfing software writers out there?

My IT skills are lacking, but I'm willing to work my ballz off and I honestly believe a collect effort could result in a better quality of life overall for those involved.

It's time to abandon this failed way of life and build something better.

ah-ha seldom, to say this way of life is failing only means you have yet to seize your opportunities. Globally most people have shelter, have some sort of way to feed themselves and their family, and have two legs to walk away from what isn't working. Learn how to sustain yourself before you try to sustain others. Youre a smart dude and I'm sure you know when its time to walk away.

Too many people get comfortable with collecting a hefty pay check and complaining all day. If your way isn't working for you, find something else to do.

I meant collectively, as a whole, like 6+ billion peeps swarming the planet and bleeding it dry. No reason to breed, no reason to chase material goods, etc, etc.

I'm pretty satisfied w/ my personal trajectory, except I don't have a necklace made of wolf-poachers ears' yet

So about that off the grid colony. My landlord is letting us live here for almost free as I fix up her property. Turning an old chicken coop shed into a small studio guest house... we got two acres here, she wants a yurt, might be down for some other out buildings.

I had a good job, until I found swellinfo.

Then, I found my job was getting in the way of posting...that's when I decided to quit my job and focus 110% of my energy on swellinfo.

It wasn't an easy decision, but I saw how my absence hurt so many good people and I couldn't stand back and watch, so here I am...

    Now you know my story
