Ohh there was nothing but Aloha on the land there. Met the coolest people ever. It's in the water that I am referring to. I haven't seen that many SUPs ever in my life. Everyone just looked pissed in the water. As soon as you got back on land. All Gravy....

That is the difference between CA and HI. On land, there is much Aloha in HI. CA is filled with a-holes in the water and on the land. It's just in their DNA.

Props for the tip on saving money. I try to now I it it's always used for keeping us afloat. I really don't belong in my generation. I don't need clothes/tech/BS. When I do have some money, I spend it on surfing stuff, music, and the essentials. That's all I need/love

You seem like a good kid. Don't let the nasty realities of the world get to you. I don't believe in many things, but I do believe in Kharma and it sounds like you are about due for some of the good kind. Keep on keepin on young chap. The waves will come and go, but they will always be back.

Thanks brother. Ive noticed so far in this crazy ride that everything works out in the end if you treat people with respect and try to make others happy. I find happiness in making other people happy and watching them get stoked on what they love to do. Live aloha everyday.

Take it just to get some experience and pad your resume. And who knows, you may like it. Sounds like a fun job.

Where in VB is their office?

you are getting some good advice, but be sure to use mental health days to use sick time for surfing. goes without saying?

Also Seldom, if you believe in the singularity than its hard not to believe in a post scarcity economy? have a billion kids then who cares eh?

I would want my genes to interact with and contribute to singularity function.

Just b/c it's approaching doesn't mean I know what it is. "Things are gonna change, I can feel it"...that's all I know.

There is no such thing as unlimited resources on a finite planet, and there is no free lunch. So I don't know how this post scarcity economy works...unless you're implying we eat the children?

MIS I hope your grapes sweeten.

    they arent sour dog
space travel, space travel space travel. location location location. virtual space? look up the term post scarcity and see the arguments. Utopian yes..........possible...maybe? unlikely?
planet surfaces only escape the cosmic death rays and objects for a set time. whos to say something doesnt happen that ruins this place as a cradle to life before all the bounty of the planet is exhausted. kurzweil et al say singularity is approximately 2029 based on computing trends.
    interesting few years coming up

I dont think we will design worthwhile space craft without AI input
hope singularity comes before comet/solarflare/MrStayPuff does

    Take it man.
go with the flow and in 3 years have some money saved up and move to cali or wherever you desire
regret is the worst thing in the world so I've heard.
go for it and don't look back

I love this paradox, in order to make your self happy you need to spread happiness to others. Strangely enough it works, much better than trying to buy material crap with think we need/want. Just stay stoked, make your decisions, and don't look back!

I was wondering if this is what you were hinting at. I don't want to hijack young 757's thread, but Maybe we get to where the elves are, or is that just when we die?

I think it will come before '29.

I remember being in the same exact situation with the same exact mindset in the same exact city. I too was worried about missing sessions. Looking back its clear I made the right call and I laugh at my apprehension. I love surfing... obsess about it... but in the end you are really only missing crappy VB "keep your sanity sessions" (if its good..you'll find a way to get out). At the same time as long as you keep your eye on the prize, you doing what you need to move to the next step. Since my place in your shoes 12 years ago, I have lived in a few foreign countries and surfed more than a few foreign waves...and they are all waaaay better than where I started from/ well worth the price of a few missed VB sessions.

757, congrats on the opportunity and even thinking about your life in a progressive way.

Only you know what you need to do for you and it sounds like you've already made your decision.

Best of luck and enjoy the journey!
