I was in an Islamic store a few weeks ago (Halal meat, books, clothing etc.). I look at a bookshelf and the first book I see is 'The Islamic View of Jesus.' "This should be interesting," I thought.

The first page I opened it up to, it said: 'Some religions view Jesus as a bastard child (mainly the Jews). Others view him as the son of God, and others revere him as God himself. Muslims view him as as a prophet.' (paraphrased). I chuckled to myself.

The sweet Egyptian woman downstairs talked with me about how troublesome it is that the media is talking about Muslims as if they were all bad, and how it wasn't true. She gave me a Mango drink from Egypt, which tasted f*cking awesome. When she found out my coworker was allergic to Mango, she had one of the workers help her pick out some other drink.

Point being, they're just people- I react with them on a nearly daily basis. Whether I'm buying booze at the corner store, chatting with a bus driver, or learning about Indonesia from my deli guy- it's all good and it's all normal.

To judge a people or religion by the most heinous criminals of their ilk, well that's called prejudice, and it's idiotic. If people judged the U.S. or Catholics by their history and actions, I would have been killed in another country, a long time ago.

If people judged surfers by the worst of them, they'd think they're all spacey brahs with burnt toast for brains... hmm...
