Fun this morning in NJ with some nice size. The cams in RI look epic though, lol.

You're all wrong, the most consistent surf has to be the windswell on the southern end of Lake Erie followed by the stretch of coast in central Massachussetts above Cape Cod. NJ, OBX, and RI, not to mention LI are all at the bottom of the list.

Also, NJ isn't overrated, there are other great places to surf that are just underrated.

You know who is overrated? New Jersey pros. Someone did throw a dis at them earlier, and they are right. Sam Hammer isn't really that great. And don't get me started on the Ocean City guys. The main problem with them is their followers. They get sucked-up to by everybody on the barrier islands. However, once they hit the mainland nobody cares. They run around, pull up to surf spots in luxury vehicles, think they are funny because they kick each other in the testicles, walk from the street to the ocean like they are demi-Gods.................And their followers keep it going.

Like, dudes, Rob Kelly got 6th place in some friggin WQS contest. He got a free pass into the main event and beat a total of FOUR dudes to get 6th place. FOUR DUDES. You have to beat 4 times as many people to win an ESA contest. Of course this has soared his local status into new heights. And the dude was in Philadelphia Magazine awhile back. He says things like that he " grew up in Ocean City" No, he didn't. He's from some place NW of Filthadelphia.

BUT YOU. ALL Y'ALL are to blame for these dudes. ALL Y'ALL created this. Just like American society created Honey Boo Boo. Hey Erock, you watch Honey Boo Boo?

Like, I see vids from Maryland/Delaware and these unknown dudes are just as good as Andrew Gesler. That Vince Boulanger guy is pretty good. Saw another vid of dudes I never heard of, and they could take some of these OCNJ guys. That's not right.

I hear you... I see some "sposored" guys around that surf real good, but not like you'd expect.
But, I will say that some local dudes rip. Sam Hammer is ridiculous in heavy barrels.
Balaram was with Alex Gray, Benny B and a few more rippers at Lido about a year and a half ago on a big perfect day. And he charged as hard as any of them.... He got smoked in that CT, but that was against Slater and Fanning.

That is true about Rob Kelly and you would think a "pro" would be better. I do think Sam Hammer is great at pulling into/out of deep barrels. I think Balaram is above them all and will continue to improve. That video of Balaram on this site is off the charts.

Nantucket... an island with three sides, two of which are flat year 'round. The third side has a 90 degree(ish) swell window.

Besides that, it's super expensive and totally booshie. Bottom line... because it has access issues, it does not count.

Only on the 5th Sunday of every month, PJB. Nice to see you back, man.

I gotta say I do like Dean Randazzo as far as the older EC Guard goes. Nice dude, killer story. Also, aside from the Evangelical Christian aspect, I think Brett Gnarly Barley reps the EC pretty good too.

Did you overlook the EVANGELICAL part of my statement? I don't care what religion really, it's the evangelical aspect I don't agree with or support--thus my stated opinion that I really like Gnarly Barley aside from certain aspects of his beliefs that are not congruent to mine and I don't personally espouse.

That's it, it's a freaking opinion and all of a sudden (given the recent climate of this site) every freaking opinion police officer with a chip on their shoulder has to come out of the woodwork to turn it into some off-topic circle jerk.

To that end, I'm done addressing it and sort of sorry I posted it now.... but not really.

@RIsurfer...I have to be honest I can't believe this has gone 20 pages...blows my mind that people are that interested in Jersey (attacking it or defending it). The amount of time people have wasted on this particular post is unreal...considering the content of some of the other posts around it...

You know what, I hate Jersey and everyone who surfs there: They've been consistently getting better waves than we are down here for a couple years now! Damn those people, damn them all to Hell!

This thread certainly took off and entertained some heated dialogue, but at the same time various aspects of regional east coast breaks have been discussed, fun thread IMO.

    Man, that hurts.

Let's get more specific. This past January-Febuary every solid swell was accompanied by 20-50 WSW or SW winds. That sucks. That means those North Jersey bastards got the goods while us South Jersians had to travel or deal with the abyss. Sometimes God makes me wonder. It was winter and winter tends to throw out NW winds which is the way God intended. Life is unfair.

Now, most of all y'alls complaints aboot New Jersey should be geared to the North Jersey types. You know all of them reality TV shows y'all watch aboot "Jersey" people........well they're all North Jersey or New York sons of barches. I've been trying to split the state in two for years but no one will join my crusade. One time I even got a shovel and was going to split the state physically in two starting at Trenton and working eastward to LBI. But I only dug a few yards before I saw the fruitlessness of my pursuit. Hey, does anyone have any heavy tractor equipment stuff I can borrow for a few months?

Congrats RISurfer on the popularity of your thread. Controversey, baby, it stirs them all up.
