Hi all, I'm new to this forum. Just a quick question, does the type of board you ride dictate the type of a..hole you will be in the line up? I want to be the intimating type so no one snakes my waves. If I get a Walden, will people assume I'm Canadian? Too many choices....
I think a custom bic or a nice sponge board ? Def have to get a al merryk or summer sessions sticker for it .
Or better yet as emass spicoli or Michelle jr since they are really good rippers . I'm just a chubby kook and those two are unreal on their sticks !!
I guess my style would be French tourist on a Bíc, right? Last time I used one, the parafin I applied to the fabric made a huge mess. I want a stick that won't make me look kooky.
If you show up in a volcom hoodie with an american spirit hanging out of your mouth, a fancy caramel f**amochakiatto, and a hipster beard, everyone will know you're legit. Nobody will drop in on you.
the best one for your situation would definitely be a sup board with training wheels, uh i mean paddle. if youre going for the i tried to surf before but sucked at it but i really want to try and look cool and have no etiquette while in the line up. it should be perfect
Great tips guys! I filled my camelback with pumpkin spice latte, and have started waxing my stash with sticky-bumps so I always can smell the stoke.
Here's some research. Intimidation is maximized when you bark at your peers in the lineup...it's a natural reaction.....but it starts in the parking lot. Just put the vibe out that you are crazy and have some medieval weapons hanging out in plain sight. +1 on the custom bic. I love mine. really goes.
nah, dye the front part of your hair red and style it like justin bieber. then put your hood up only halfway so that a little bit of your sweet red hair shows. you'll have jenks all to yourself if you do that. endless waves
What's the thoughts on absolutely dousing myself with Axe body spray, to the point where others in the line up can taste it, then when I get home my wife thinks I've been at a male strip club. I've only noticed this when I shred my grovel at the Wall.
The best indicator of lineup behavior is behavior on land. That being said- At my usual spot, in the warmer months, the most definitive boards are Al Merricks. Owners of these boards are the most likely to do complicated pre-surf stretches. After finally paddling out, they sit too far outside. And they will never paddle into questionable waves on a clouseout day. If the board is pristine or dinged to hell, all of these things are more likely.
ok got it.....lots of stretching before i go out on my sweet al merrick. Then just float around and pretend to paddle for waves that i'll never drop in on. thats definitely a huge help. should i go to my tanning bed before i go out to keep from getting too burned. or do i wear my rash guard to protect my sensitive nipples??
What about multiple boards of the same design, but just a few inches different. Like a 9-8, 9-6, 9-5.3/4 mega. You know, for different types of waves?
