Call me a minimalist, or ignorant or whatever you will. For me i have NEVER noticed a difference fins make on my surfing performance. (excluding those of drastically different shape or size) Ive tried all those fancy new fangled $100 fins and such, and to me they work just as good as the default fin setup most shops give you with a board. I think that all that yuppie bull crap is just for people with too much money due to not spending enough time in the water.

Now don't get me wrong fin setup and spacing (thruster vs quad and the dimensions in between) has made a HUGE difference for my turns, gripping a wave, and down the line speed etc. But as far as splitting hairs and shaving a few MM off a fin shape here and there, I think its a big waste of time. Water temperature vs fin performance is another hair splitting endeavor in my humble opinion.

get out of the classroom and into the field. Ain't no barrels or bombs to be had behind a computer.
