Well, it's that time of year again, it's hard to believe it's been 15 years already since 9/11. I know we all joke around a lot and give each other a hard time on here, but I wanted to take a moment to reflect and pay tribute to those we have lost.

For those of you who had family or friends that were lost on 9/11, my heart feels for you and I wish you all the best in your continued recovery from this tragedy. Even after 15 years, I still get choked up when I think about it. I didn't lose anybody I knew personally, but I lost fellow Americans that day.

If there is one thing we can all agree on, it's that this day cannot and will not be forgotten. This is one time in history I remember all of us being UNITED as ONE NATION. Never had I seen such patriotism. It didn't last forever though, many people let their guards down, which we simply cannot do. There is a war still being fought to prevent things like this from happening again.

Thank you to the men and women of the military and law enforcement who are trying their best to keep us safe here at home.

Disclaimer: For those of you are extremely sensitive to seeing any images of that day, please do not watch the following video. The rest of you, please take a moment to reflect and join me in remembering the ones we lost.

Most nations throughout history have been destroyed from within from watering down of the national culture and language. The USA is in the midst of this process.
Often the first step is the disintegration of the national language (already well underway), then national heritage (under constant daily attack in the US), disrespect for the law and law enforcement (sound familiar?), and then true class warfare.
Patriotism and nationalism create a sense of unity.
Without unity, there is disarray, and eventual anarchy.
Call it manipulation if you want, but it's an important aspect of any successful nation.
Love it or leave it bud.

I remember being in my office building and the internet was for the most part down due to all the traffic hitting the news sites. So nobody knew what was going on other than planes hit the buildings. So I call up my sister who was home with her new babies and she told me the tower were gone (as in both collapsed). I tell my co-workers this and everyone of them said "now way, that could never happen."

Guys, we have all sorts of threads to get into debates on. I never ask this, but in this particular thread, I would respectfully ask that we keep it to remembering and honoring the people that lost their lives that day avoid the BS and negativity.

If you don't have anything positive to say, just this once, keep it to your self or post it in another thread that has already been derailed. Again, I hate even asking this, but this topic is a touchy one for a lot of people. Thank you for your cooperation.

I was in a bar in New York and my father pointed out a guy to me. Told me he was one of the only surviving Battalion chiefs from the day, and that that particular gentleman was in charge of running the whole operation. He sent Rescue 1, the most talented and elite fire fighting division in the world, into the towers, among many, many other New York City Fireman. They all perished under his leadership.
He and the other brass were at the mobile command center when they started hearing what they thought was gunfire. It was the sound of human bodies hitting the pavement. The jumpers. Then, the first tower came down, pretty much on top of them. He happened to jump under a firetruck and survived. His long time friend and co-battalion chief was not so lucky. he was killed instantly. His decapitated head was underneath the firetruck with the gentleman who I was looking at in the bar. Hell erupted around them.

I beg you to reconsider what you post, and where you post it, General Lee. Lots of your SI buddies to your north will be shedding tears for the 15th consecutive September 11th. It still hurts.

    What a fu*ked up day.
I was in college at the time. On my way to class listening to Stern when the 1st plane hit.
I got to school (Hofstra) and went up to the top of the library where I could see it burning. I called my buddy who worked down on Wall St to see what was happening. It was still no big deal, just crazy. He was telling me how it was burning and debris was all over... Then he started screaming "another fu*king plane is coming... Holy Fu*king **** a 747 just hit the other tower"

Then I could see the fire and smoke and realized what was going on. Called my mom, because my uncle worked there (he was fine, but ended up with cancer years later). Then I left school and drove toward the beach. I had planned on surfing after class, because it was firing, but I wasn't thinking about surfing when I was driving. I'm not sure why I drove there, but I did...
You could see the smoke coming from the towers at different points on the parkway. I got to the Loop Parkway Bridge and saw a giant plume of smoke. And Stern said the tower fell... I didn't know what to do, I was so fu*king angry, but still went to the beach.
I got down to Lido and everyone was in the parking lot talking. I still remember everyone that was there and what they were saying.
I grabbed my board and paddled out. It was head high glass, sunny and warm. I didn't paddle for a wave for a long time. Just sat there and stared at the smoke. Eventually got a few really good ones and friends (that worked in the city) started showing up. I've never seen more people talking in the water. Everyone was talking about what happened and what they went through and how scary it was. And a wave would come and someone would take off with no hassle and then paddle back and keep talking.

I was in the water all day on 9/11. I've always felt guilty about that, but what was I going to do.

My good friend died, 2 friends fathers and my wife's uncle (who I didn't know at the time). All of them good people that were just trying to earn a living for their families...
My uncle got out, but was covered in that dust and spent a lot of time down there afterwards because he's a Fed. He ended up with leukemia (which does not run in the family) and is dealing with that now. Not sure if it's related, but his docs seem to think it is.

I hope all 19 of those pieces of garbage rot in hell
