Swimming if you have a indoor pool in your town , Bike riding is good and some weight training as well. You can go to you local rec center and use there weights if they have a weight room. Really anything that doesnt put any sudden shock to your joints is good for you

Run. Pushups. Chin ups. Situps. In order or importance. You need nothing else in the world.

I made an indo board for like $15 with some PVC and a piece of pine from Home Depot. Not exactly as nice but couldn't spend the $100 they wanted.

I know the physical component is demanding, but how rigorous is the nutritional part?

I am doing P90X right now...It is great..It seem to work wonders....I dropped 12 pounds in 3 weeks and got alot stronger. As far as diet..I eat alot of lean chicken breast...I don't follow the nutrition 100% I just cut out all the crap and eat healthy...Lots of Protien

Do you have to work out every single day with P90X? I took the "test" and I can do all of the prerequisites. I'm thinking about trying the program soon, so I can finish by summer.

Yea...Well six days a week. Say you start on a Monday. then Sunday is considered a strecth day or rest day. The have a strech program you can do on your seventh day. They are quick workouts though. The longest one is 1hr 30mins which is Yoga. It is a great workout fast pace. It was expensive to get started for me...They programs was about $150 then I bought the bowflex dumbells they were about $400 and some other things like bands and pull up bar, push up bar...It begins to add...Also half the reason I don't follow the diet....Its expensive to eat good...I just buy 6 lbs of lean skinless chicken breast, fruits and berrys and protien powder and have at it. It's definitley working though I am only in about week three and I feel like a million bucks

so, here is my advice. There is this thing called "Insanity". My fiance wanted me to get her the P90X thing, but when I watched the trailer, it had tons of workouts in Gyms and with weights etc... So, one of my buddies who is a surfer and into MMA at this thre throwdown gym told me to check out this DVD called INSANITY. It is nuts. More hard core than p90X and there are NO WEIGHT or anything. Its all just crazy workouts with nothing but you and the TV. Its basically makes you workout every muscle until it fails you and you collapse. But i have heard it is much quicker and easier to do than P90x....

And p90x is 8 DVDs, instanity is 1....

Just my 2 cents. I havent started it, but this is what I have heard through minor research.

agreed, Insanity is much newer I think. P90x has been around for a years now. I'd like to give insanity a try, but already have p90x.
as far as the equipment for p90x...I bought a set of 30# dumbells, and had a set of 15's. They wok for almost everything. I built a pullup bar in my basement, so while I"m doing the workout (in the finshed section of the basement), i just jog over the the unfinished section, do the pullups, and come back.
LBIRipper hit the nail on the head with the diet. I don't strictly follow it, but I have cut a lot of junk out, and eat a lot of grilled chicken and canned tuna....anything with lots of protein.
Most workouts are an hour or so, plus 15-20 if you do the abs. I found the 1.5 hour long yoga to be the hardest by far.
they lay it out pretty nice with keeping track of your progress too
