Hey guys! Hope everyone doing well despite this awful flat spell! Just quick question, I want to get my first short board for New Jersey/East Coast conditions, I'm 6.3 and 185lbs what do you recommend...? Thanks!
what are you riding now?? im 5'6 155-160 lbs and i usually ride a 5'10 round nose fish.. is awesome for everything but barrels...then bust out the round tail... a lot is gonna be preference and what feel you are looking for...
between work and lack of day light when i get home ...... i haven't surfed since November. I hope i still know how.................
i'm 6'2/185 and i have a 6'4x19.5x2.5. it rides like a gem in anything Waist+, and ive ridden it for about 2 years now.
I'm 6'1" 200lbs and ride a 6'2" Timmy Patterson Rising Sun. It is a great all around board IMO. Perfect for anything but super mush for me.
My legend 6'2 Quad "Chunky Monkey" is my goto Shortboard I can ride it as a quad or thruster . I have had it out from knee high to head high and it holds it's own very well. I am 5'11 175 . In the winter add 15lbs due to extra rubber
Im 6'2 195 and right now for winter im riding a 6'4 19 3/8 2 3/8 wrv bat tail quad. i love this board for winter because it compensates for the extra weight of the wetsuit.
I ride a 7,10 hybrid but I am starting to feel more confident with head high waves and want something I can use with bigger sets. Thanks!
the dumpster diver is the perfect nj shortboard, or the js blackbox. im like 6'o 170 pounds and i ride a 5'10 no problem. i could prob even go shorter. u can ride thse boards in anythng, from knee to head high plus. fast and loose.
I would recommend a Tommy Moore Tweaker. Its along the same lines as a JS blak box or Channel Island dumpster diver but it has it own little tweaks. The board is insane plus its shaped by one of the best shapers form the East Coast (although Tommy is out in So Cal now). Al Merrick and JS shape boards for Australia California, etc Tommy lived here his whole life til recently and shaped for the top guys on the East Coast for years, he knows what is needed for our side of the coast. It depnds on your ability but if you're a pretty decent surfer I would ride the Tweaker in a 6'0 or 6'-1 and with your weight go 19-3/4 x 2 1/4. The Twekare carries a decent amoungt of foam so its great for paddling into weaker surf. Im 5-8 155lbs and ride a 5-9 x 19 1/4 x 2 1/4. I could have gone 5-8 or 5-7 on mine but was trying to spread my board size out a bit.
any thoughts on the lost rocket?? im getting one just wanna see if anyone has ridden them in head/ overhead surf..
