I live in VA and my parents insist on taking a spring break trip to Sarasota,FL. I am kinda disssapointed cuz I know the Gulf has no waves and I would be much happier taking our usual trip to the OBX..

To cushion my dissapointment they said we could tack on a few days at either end at someplace on the way. I was hoping that you guys had some input on the best and most consistent surf spots on the way (we are driving.) Any good places near charleston?

Just hoping you guys had some input, Thanks!

you can stop way before charelston and stop in wrightsville beach. but around charelston you have hilton head. finally just look under the south east forecast for places around charelston. also you can post in the southeastern forum.

actually the gulf does have waves but it only really lights up during hurricane swells. there are surf spots around the world bro, there's surf in the frickin great lakes. check out google earth 5.0 and scroll up or down the coasts where you'll be. they give you short descriptions of every surf spot imaginable with photos and comments. it's through magicseaweed though... maybe swellinfo can start a little summum summum with google earth and connect one of these forums or forecasts with the select area! that would be pretty cool.

dont overlook the possibility of surf in the sarasota/bradenton area. They can get some decent surf with the NW winds behind the cold fronts.
