This is nothing new. The Hawaiians have bullied the ASP since the days of Rabbit and Shaun Thompson. Sure they run the show at Pipe, but they have threatened people to allow more Hawiian wildcards into the event. Newsflash- every stop on tour and every wave in the world
has it's own locals. The Hawaiian events should be treated no different than any other event. Too many wildcards in my opinion already. Most don't get past their heats anyway. Gonna be the same ASP rippers in the quarters and finals as usual. But maybe getting a heat given to them through intimidation makes em Feel important. Kind of like a charity event...
As for "Hawaiian blood" the Rothmans are Jews from Philly. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but they are far from Hawaiian Royalty. They have more connections with east coast coke dealing thugs than Hawaiian Kings.

Funny, him and John John's mom are east coast neighbors! Hardly the ones to fight for Hawaiian rights but that's how sadly jacked up hawaiians are over all..and it always takes some 2% hawaiian or a in this case, a haole, to go fight for the rights.
In this case, NS gets their wildcards and should like any other spot. No more, no less. If he wants to see more locals in ASP, tell them to get their sh@# together and surf better. Though, I guess Dusty and Clay are not 'proper' hawaiians to that haole.
Really overall I don't have much problem with what's he saying but hypocrisy too much to bare.
I understand local reaction to straight up madness on NS but they make a decent living out of it, too. Eddie wants it back to where it never was anyway... well, stop pimping it. But they live off corporate money.

What a load of crap. Eddie is a white boy jew from the EC that married a Hawaiian woman, just like Chandler in North Shore. Only one's who dissed Eddies people was the Pharro in ancient Eygpt and Hitler in Germany. So Eddie and his Hui are pissed about white people stealing the islands but they got no problem with white boy Eddie coming over to steal their women? If it were not for the white folk from the mainland that chain of islands would be poorer than they already are. Becoming part of the US and the tourist boom becasue of that is the best thing that ever happened to those people.

 

It will be funny to see what happens at Pipe... Will they allow more wildcards? If not, will Eddie and his goons enforce?

serious? Here's a question: Would you tell a Hawaiian person, to his or her face, not on the internet, that they were better off because of colonization? I think the real problem the asp is facing is figuring out at what age Pappa Eddie decided to drop his texan accent and started using the hawaiian dialect.
