So I plan on going on a trip to in June and have been considering going to El Salvador for some time now. I have always wanted to check out a right point break and have been told AST surf hotel at La Libertad is a cool set up. Just wanted to know if anyone had ever stayed there and what they thought about it.

I couldn't tell you about that hotel, but GO to El Salvador. I've surfed the best waves of my life there. This entire picture is about 1/3 of a wave. just go.

Cool country good waves. WTef on the prices of that hotel? If I'm spending 90-250$ a day in El Sal I better be getting all the booze I can drink, three massages a day and a few happy beginnings. To each their own but I have no idea why anyone would ever travel to a country to stay at an all inclusive where you never get to experience anything outside the bubble. Better to be a traveler than a tourist. You know it's like 6 Pupusas for 2$ there?

Also La Libertad is kind of a dump and the water is definitely a dump....although the waves can pump.
Here...save yourself some dough and experience the place a little: http://www.lunasurfingelsalvador.com/room.htm

I plan on traveling there by myself and rather have something set up for me plus can only speak a little bit of spanish. I do agree with seeing new things and all but plan on doing that this winter when i go on another trip. Rather not risk it on a solo mission.

    Was there last August.

    La Libertad/El Tunco area.

That pic looks like Sunzal, longest wave I have ever ridden, clocked the ride on my grpro at 46 seconds long, amazing wave.

There is a lot of American influence there, so speaking spanish isn't essential, but super helpful. (It always helps me find a little mota when I'm there.)

Anyways, look up the El Tunco area, nice hotels, good area, and with 20 minutes of a few amazing breaks. (El Sunzal, Punta Roca, El Zonte (my fav))

Good luck, El Salvador, in my opinion, is by far the best "bang for your buck" surfing wise.

Punta Rocas Resort, ask for Roberto. My avatar is Punta Roca in front of Bob's restaurant when he was building it in 1974.

Fairly accurate with all these statements.

If you go to El Tunco make sure to pay a guide to drive you to Las Flores/Punta Mango (the east end of the country) 3 hours away. World class and perhaps even better. Or you could just go there and stay the whole time. Scoring for sure on the cheap in ES.
