So I guess it has been awhile since I have been to EI but when did they start charging $10 to park at the "major" public access spots? Just when I thought WB was rape EI goes one step further.

Yea ITS HORRIBLE, you can pay $5 to park at the pier, dunno if they hiked that up this year or not. I think after 5pm its free parking at pier and public access stops charging after 4pm and at 7am they start, on weekends and holidays. Its only at the Eastern Ocean Regional Access and Western Ocean Regional Access for now.... I read that if your handicapped you can park for free, so if you borrow one..... >:-] I should be able to play my local card on this BS!!!!!!

At WB you can stay for 2 hours or whatever and pay less than $10, EI is $10 regardless of how long or short you stay. At least that is what the bored old man taking money told me.

Sandy Hook National Recreation Area is a pay-to-park between Memorial day and Labor day, and it ain't cheap. Daily pass is $15 per car. I get the season pass, but it stings... $75.... and use it to surf, fish, hang out. Maybe they have a similar offer?

Good find.... thanks. If I read it right it seems like the $10 charge is to fund all the improvements over that last 3 or so years. Which makes me wonder..... what was wrong with the spots before the "improvements"? A dirt parking lot was fine with me, and yeah the one set of steps down to the beach was bad, but it did serve the purpose of getting people to the beach. Oh well gotta quit *****in and get to the beach before 7am on the weekends I guess. Or drive further down.
