I remember being in school and calling 576-surf (in HI) from the pay phone while between classes. It was kinda magical..I didn't go out on big days or anything but just hearing it was kinda cool. Pretty accurate, too.

Phone reports have no business in digital age but it is nice that in many places there would be a local shop that updates their page every day (with pics sometimes) and is willing to write couple of paragraphs on what's going on.
Actually, that is what I'd like- some opinion and forecasting wisdom...

Except tomorrow...chest high and clean in both Maryland and Delaware with WSW wind fading in the afternoon. Looks rainy, but worthy.

I forget relative's names at family reunions but can still recall both of WRV's surf report numbers and I haven't called them in close to 20 years.

Oh yeah...sorry to the cute girls visiting their granparents beach houses in the 80s & early 90's...I really meant to give you MY number. Hope it was at least a good surf report when you called.

Surfed in Maryland mid afternoon. Glassy and peaky but less than chest high, and the high tide and short period swell made for some soft waves that mostly didn't wall up very much. Still, glassy.

I never trusted WRV reporters. I know if I was giving the report and it was going off, FLAT AND UNRIDABLE!

Kind of like the In The Eye report on here. I frequently see reports along the lines of: 3-5', SW wind, nothing special. With pics of nice glassy lines no less. But what the hey, it's not me out there every morning at sunrise so who am I to complain.

I'm not complaining, just pointing this out. No shot there's going to be what you are calling for in Jupiter FL tomorrow. MSW has 3ft @ 7s at noon. Swellinfo has 4.6ft @ 11 sec. I like the site and don't want to be "that guy" for writing this so, Swellinfo, this hurts me more than it hurts you.

that report from the lighthouse is pretty accurate, but the photos distort how it is standing on the beach with him taking them, let alone paddling out in it.it's really weird to me how different it really is to how the photos look and how it is when you go out
