    That's why ear plugs are so clutch. They work and it takes two seconds to put in before you surf, and you're good to go. I had a fairly in depth discussion with my physician about what to do moving forward. He pretty much said that it's a combination of cold water and/or cold wind blowing that stimulates the bone growth. He recommended keeping the water out and shielding the ear canal from wind if possible. Plugs do both of those, and a hood helps a good bit with the wind too. Then you don't have to worry about mixing solutions to flush your ears or whatever.
