I'm prepared to get some, "check the archives, this comes up all of the time," but I didn't see something that fit my needs. I'm prepared for Barry to tell me to take a blow torch to the area prior to application, possibly calling me a moron in the process. These obstacles won't dissuade me from asking though. I'm looking for some kind of liquid-based adhesive to put down when I replace my traction pad. I've seen Gorilla Glue and Shoe-Goo thrown around as options on other sites, but I'd like the opinions of you banditos. P.S. Yes, I did consider semen as a liquid-based adhesive so there's no need to ask. It just doesn't have the holding strength when met with water.
this 3m super 77. spray both surfaces. let dry 60 seconds. apply pressure (stack of books, brick, sandbag, whatever). let sit for a few hours.
I've used this exact product...it works and you can get it at Lowes. Pad held up great and did not peel... Also, spray the pad not the board...
Doesn't 77 loosen up when heated? I use it to adhere sanding disks to sanding pads specifically because you can peel the paper right off the pad while it still warm from sanding.
I use 3m "super 77" and spray an good amount (6+ passes) on the bottom of the pad (none on the board), with a little extra on the kick/wedge area. De-wax the deck and clean any leftover oils with a rag dipped in rubbing alcohol. Slap on the pad, press and let it sit overnight. Haven't had any major peel-up problems with this method...but the pad's not so stuck that it tears when you want to peel it back up to re-use it (use a hairdryer to soften adhesive prior to peeling back up). If you do get any unwanted peel-ups, just spray some adhesive on a knife, spread it on the peeled up area and re-stick.
