Its going to be my first winter surfing, and got a new wetsuit setup, 5/4, boots, hooded, gloves... Was wondering if any other precautions should be considered for the face once the temp really starts to drop?
winter face protection this is the best stuff. pricey but works. http://www.kiehls.com/Cross-Terrain-UV-Face-Protector-SPF-50/3605975053821,default,pd.html its called kiehls Cross-Terrain UV Face Protector SPF 50 in case that link doesnt work. you can also use vasoline to keep you dry and protect against the wind but theres no spf and its too slimy. I used to use eucerin but its water based and can freeze. good luck.
Oregon coast winter surf buddies I'm trying to get surfers get together to surf at the coast..this winter..if you're interested let me know..We got be safe once we paddling out there for the extreme coast cold water.. Carlo
6\5 ri/ma/nh/me 7mil boots 8mil gloves. If your really cold (shaken) go in. The short lived small period swell in the northeast has you paddling a lot. So you will stay warmer if your paddling\surfing. Never had to put anything on the face even while ice builds up around my hood.
a lot of people are clueless when it comes to advice. vaseline breaks down neoprene so if you want to f up your wetsuit put vaseline on your face
