Its going to be my first winter surfing, and got a new wetsuit setup, 5/4, boots, hooded, gloves... Was wondering if any other precautions should be considered for the face once the temp really starts to drop?

    7mil boots
    8mil gloves.

If your really cold (shaken) go in. The short lived small period swell in the northeast has you paddling a lot. So you will stay warmer if your paddling\surfing. Never had to put anything on the face even while ice builds up around my hood.

a lot of people are clueless when it comes to advice. vaseline breaks down neoprene so if you want to f up your wetsuit put vaseline on your face
