That does not surprise me one bit. I would not be surprised to hear the driver stopped off for a "palito" (rum & coke) before heading back to the hospital. That Don Q rum is very alluring.....
my skeleton key has a big ol dent up top from my head. had to make an unanticipated dive when a deer in headlights on a summer rental froze in my line. the former mrs. two barrels' nickname should've been "crash". hoe's been in more collisions in winter sports and gotten more concussions than anyone i know. she took up surfing a few years back and any time she bit it the board would fly up and go straight for her head. darwinism: she couldn't for the life of her remember to cover her head, even after it was apparent that the universe wanted her to have a brain injury. i would secretly get pleasure out of watching this happen, but i also dreaded it because i knew that it meant she would get out of the water and be a victim, seek attention, and ultimately emit ****abulous vibes until i prematurely ended my session.
But hang on --- there is one way that I am sure I am going to hurt myself: I swear I am going to tear my ACL one super-small day longboarding or groveling by dismounting in knee high water. I always land left leg first. I've come close to a hyperextension before and I just know I'm going to tank one day. If I remember I usually opt for the bs air belly flop dismount.
DPSUP, holy cow what a saga & good to hear you're gonna be ok. Pain, survival, rejuvenation, perspective (the kid dying) & being one tough dude to get back in it that fast after separating your shoulder. Unky2B, ditto on the looming dismount injury on a small day. BTW, that's another reason I'll wear reef booties in PR & Barbados next time, too, 'cause at 6'3, 210 lbs, Yankee hits underwater things, like urchins, that the 5'7, 160 lb crews seem to sail right on by.

It was one of those days you wish you could forget. But, lots of Jack Daniels and I feel like a new man! Tomorrow looks to be small, so one more day of rest and I think I may paddle back out. Another little swell on the way.
