Saw this on the erBB a couple weeks ago, posting for Mr. Wasteland. Not as much surfing as I remember, but the interview is cool and there's some neat vintage footage from way back. Plus it opens w/ a sick arse barrel. Idk, I like Christian Fletcher, glad he's still around doing his thing. http://www.whatyouth.com/2013/12/20/fairly-normal-christian-fletcher-2/?id=14663
Video wouldn't embed(is that even a word?) for some reason, but here's the accompanying interview(full, in text, for those of you stuck at a computer all day). http://www.whatyouth.com/2014/01/24/the-christian-fletcher-interview/?id=15907
thanks seldom. That wedge footage is unreal, and he still has more style in the air then half of what you see these days
everyone tries to bash cf because he turned out to be a drug addict, but u have to think hey it was the 80s.give a bunch of young kids all this money and stuff during that era,yea everyone partied.he pioneered the aerial stuff before it was even cool.he beat tom curren at pipe on acid, and he beat slater? during the lower trestles contest in 91? while up for a week burning doobies.archy was the same way,and his son is looking great in the water,n Christians son greyson is one of the top junior skateboarders.not to mention his kid chills with john john Florence, his brother Nathan always surfing with bruce irons, and andy when he was still around. yea he definitely aint the best role model,i don't think any surfer can be a role model except slater because hes clean, cut, and a freak of nature.u take all these hot groms and sent em back to the past in the early 80s flyin to tailand, japan and stuff.those guys party hard, get groupies, hookers etc.slater said in the early 90s some old lady used to stalk him in france during the contest every year and he almost pushed her off a balcony, and she came back with her buddies who were about to jump slater and tom carrol and rcj showed up and beat up the people and saves slater lol.true story
I think there's a lot of surfers that can be considered role models these days. Yes Slater is probably the best, but there's a lot of others. Mick, Joel, Nat Young, Coffin's, Hobgood's, Gudangs etc...
