no no no, you guys are all on the wrong track. You want something that nobody knows exists. Something that won't put you on the list for the FEMA round up once Trump starts the race war and the great mexican war of 2017. Uncle sam says it's your god given right to build gunz and fahrahrms so get into your shed and forge your freedom!

Serious answer for home defense nothing beats a short barrel pump action shot gun, like the Remington 870 marine or Mossberg 500 tactical. 6 rounds of buck shot that will probably not even be needed after the supremely detouring sound of a shotgun being racked can be heard down a dark hallway. If you do have to shoot, you don't even really have to aim, just point it in the general direction of the intruder and bark a few off. Then call a good drywall guy. Or you could always get a scoped rifle and pick them off as they approach your house from 200 yards

+1 on tactical shotgun....takes care of business at close range and under sever pressure, you can't (or should not) miss.

.40, .45acp, or 9mm (9mm will have a bit less recoil and ammo is cheaper and easier to get).

I would not mess with a revolver personally but would highly encourage training and practice with the semi.

Jesus, Pump! You in the witness protection program???

That being said, I have a full arsenal too. 3 shotguns, 3 rifles, a Glock and two compound bows with a quiver of arrows with exploding tips. (Just kidding about the exploding tips.) They are just all locked up in a gun cabinet. I plan on having a little fair warning before mass hysteria...

Slight paranoia. You should see what its like when some sales person comes to the house.

    like my range pic??

No... But I have read it before... Now I'm seriously afraid to even look for a copy on the internet... I don't think that's paranoia.

Thanks fellas! This has been very helpful as well as informative...my 4 year old has a couple squirt guns in the house, but besides that I have nothing...looks like I may be a little undergunede

Looks as though I'll start with a range first and foremost and get a little training and familiarity in a controlled environment

After that sounds as though I begin with the soft top of the gune world with a shotgun...then who knows?

The biggest thing they told us in HD training after knowing the defense laws in your state is to NEVER open your door to answer the bell. Most home invaders just right in and you are screwed.

IF you don't have a gun and your wife is hot, just push her into the hallway and close the door.
