depends where you go. west side of O'ahu could get pretty rough, starting around Nanakuli all the way to Kaena point. with that said, it's really not as bad as what you think. it always boils down to one or two a$$wipes. just keep an eye on who's the alpha in the line up and make sure never to drop in on him, or better yet, don't drop in on anyone. i dunno how it is now, but use to have a crew who was unofficially called "the regulators" that haunts Kaisers on the south shore. they're old and most likely mellowed out by now, lol.
Space A for free? i remember paying 10 bucks when i was in the service, lol.

....when i used to live on oahu:

    n. shore: leftovers/rightovers, alligator rock, marijuanas
    s. shore: swabbieland (coast guard jetty), hickam harbor mouth/reef runway, campbell industrial park
westside: makaha, free hawaiis, rest camp (when makaha is too big for this haole)

there was also a break off ko olina that would only work on massive nw swells (25'+). don't recall the name but the few times i surfed there it was uncrowded and super fun

    Dear Georgie boy,

I noticed that your new around here- still a junior member.

Have you considered starting a 'hello' thread to introduce yourself? It's kinda a rite or passage around here... You know- tell us your fav surf spots- surf shops- boards- fav color...

As far as your question- probably better south.... But might pick up a swell here or there on the north.

You might want to consider changing your plans to fly to Belmar, NJ. Way better waves. World class bro.

    Your pal
    Mr Belmar
