Im looking for a good set of FCS fins (thruster set up) for bigger surf that will hold well. The problem i am having is sliding out a bit on bigger days during a bottom turn. I have some great futures for the bigger stuff that hold great on deep bottom turns (the JC1 seems to work real well for me) , but of course all of my performance boards i have right now are FCS. im thinking something along the lines of one of these three: GMB-5, MF-1, or SA-2 all Performance Core. and I weigh between 185-190. Any feedback on any of these fins?

I'm 6'4" and 200lbs and have owned each of the sets of fins you're looking at. I've resold the GMBs and SAs because they felt "average" to me. No problems with HOLD, but I surf heavily off of my back foot and both just didn't seem to DRIVE off of a deep bottom turn the way I'd like them to. I've only owned the MFs for a few sessions and they feel similar to the AM large template with really good all-around hold and drive when the surf gets bigger. My go to FCS right now are the MFs for 6'+ surf and the H3 NEXUS large for waves up to 6'. The H3s are a game changer for a big guy in smaller surf, excellent drive and very "pivoty". You may want to check these out on your small-wave board.

    Cheers!

I'm your weight and I use the Simon fins in big surf. Plenty of drive and hold... carries speed through turns well.

i absolutely LOVE the MF-1. it's become my go-to fin for all fcs boards, replacing the G-AM.
