Fate has dropped a 7'7 PU blank in my lap. It's basically a scaled down version of the blank shown here: https://www.foamez.com/images/US83H.jpg

18"n x 22 1/8" x 2 7/8" x 16 1/4"t . Nose rocker is at least 3 1/2" and tail about 2 3/4", but there's lots of room for adjustment. The rails have already been cut vertical and the crust is gone but that's about it.

Before I found this I wasn't in the market for any particular shape. I'm content with what I have and a little tight on space, but I couldn't resist. Chopped down this could make a nice Oceanracer/Simmons/Puck/or anything in-between, but I already have a 5'4 Simmons twin. The blank fits a longer Dharma really well though.

    Here's a 6'10 Bing Dharma replica: http://nsa33.casimages.com/img/2013/08/13/130813121442580820.jpg

Anyone know how they feel over 6'? Do the Dharma and Simmons shapes scale well? Everyone talks about the minis instead of the longer, original shape.

I like the idea of a wide nose with a pulled-in tail, like the Thumb: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cl304vEVEco/T38BhzXP6xI/AAAAAAAABWw/5r_0rzVar4A/s1600/thumby_thumb.jpg

    or a Scorpion: http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lga4uqZrJp1qdj7lo.jpg

I've heard from some that the Scorpions are quiver killers and also from a few that they're nothing special (can't really believe that). Anyone ride one? Also considering a mini-longboard as well -- which would be truer to the blank, but I don't care if I cut into it and bring out the less dense foam. I'm looking for a few other options before I start cutting. Anyone have a favorite shape that fits this blank? What would you do?

Why is there only 3 1/2" of nose rocker? I've never heard of any blank coming with that little nose rocker, and surely not a 7'7". I've seen plenty of Bing Dharmas, and even the 5'6" - 6'0" Dharmas look to me like they probably have around 4" of nose rocker (which is a relaxed rocker for a 6 foot board)

Edit - I just saw you said "at least" 3 1/2" nose rocker. Surely it has more.

The wide nose, pulled in tail is really fun, by the way. Had one for a long time. Buddies called it "the chode". Single fin, way forward. Bout 5'8-5'9, like 22" wide, to like a 4" tail. Handled everything from 1 ft slop to a few feet overhead.

here it is on a small, clean, nor cal day a handful of years ago.

It's a partially shaped 8'3 Clark Foam blank so the rocker should have been somewhere between 4" and 5". A similar sized USBlanks one has 4 3/16". I did quick measurements with a level that wasn't long enough, so it's definitely greater than 3 1/2" but not more than 4". I didn't ask too many questions about its history after I saw the foam wasn't yellowed or damaged. Only cost me a 6-pack of not so good beer. There's enough length to change the rocker on both ends and if I chop it down to 7' I bet I could get it up to 4 1/2" which is more than I need.

This is what some have said about the Scorpion and the bonzers out of Surfy Surfy. And then there are shapes like the Owl: http://www.blackbirdsurf.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Owl_6.0.jpg I like the idea of a 5-fin design on a shape like that. Mix and match. Anybody ride that?

I have a 6'6 eggy-shaped quad that's magic but it's not a true egg, so yeah, that's on the list too.
