I was out the other night and bounced off a rock at the local jetty. I busted the center fin out of my 7'10" off the rack "big guy fish." So instead of getting out I surfed it for an hour or two as a twin fin. I noticed that is was way looser in the rear but actually more fun on the bigger sets. Someone suggested filling in the holes and buying some keel fins and riding it as a twin fin. Anyone see an issue with this or should I just replace the center fin? Thanks!
You don't need to fill the holes. Once they're filled with water, there's very little turbulence created by the empty plug holes.. especially trailing fin plug holes. Boxes are a different story, because there's more rocker involved over the length of the slot. FCS no problemo. If you don't believe me, tape over your holes and see if you can feel a diff. Bet you can't. As for fins... ride what feels good.
That's what I thought. It did take out the plugs. And, I should have gotten out, but this is my summer beater board so i figured what the hell. I'm going to fill the the center and keep it a twinner.
