Funny, if you look back the last 2 yrs, we've had a decent sized swell in the same weekend. Im sure if it because it's my daughters birthday, and we leave at 4am to hit Narragansett the past 2 yrs... Hopefully now 3 yrs
I don't know, 5 days out I'm a bit skeptical, but I like your good thinking. Take it with stride, don't think any EC forecast is good unless it's within a 48hr range..hurricances can be weird.
+1...When it pulls off Cape Verde and starts spinning it's time to get excited. Otherwise, don't get your hopes up with forecast models. Might still ridable or fun on the right board.
I agree that you just can't trust the models because there is just nothing about these massive systems that acts according to a rule book. That being said, I've already taken Monday and Tuesday off. Kneeling south and praying. Come on up to NC, Irene, stall out there for a day or two and keep spinning for us. Ground Swell, baby, ground swell.
hurricane waves are coming a week too soon for the contest...waves will be over by the time it starts, my prediction....
Confused, does anybody see the RED in the forcast? Let all hope its clean but who thinks if this pushes in that it will be just huge choppy bombs?
If you can, try for somewhere you can surf both a south and an east facing beach. As it stands now, looking like all day friday and early saturday am will be the best chances for some long walled bombs.
I scored some solid surf in NC on thursday. Long high walls, so you had to watch the closeouts. When you got a shoulder, though, it was definitely fun.
