Mikeb2056 - did you read my post? I never said beaches were closed for swimmers after Labor Day!

    I said:

...surfers are denied the use of 95% of Ocean City beaches from Memorial Day to Labor Day - then, when conditions finally become too dangerous for swimmers, but big (and surfable if you know what you're doing), we're denied the use of 100% of the beach!! Where's the justice in that?

I was talking about now, the days between those holidays, when apparently, like right now, the beach was closed but a guy got fined for going out! because the surf was good!!!!! There's the freakin injustice!

lifeguards need to just stay outa the way. their probly the most annoying people when your trying to just surf besides people who cant surf. half of the guards think they rip and are the S**t anyway. thats why i love winter. no guards and no kooks. cold but peaceful, empty homebreaks.

Having grown up in Puerto Rico it was a rather amazing shock when confronted with life guards at various USA beaches... and surfing restrictions, not to mention that coupon thing you have to buy at Jersey beaches, much less having to pay for parking! I do remember a couple of days when Doña Maria was warning us, grabbing us by the arms and pleading that we not paddle out into the surf during some very nice 10'+ days :) Maybe she was on to something in those pre-leash days and 45 minute swims!

The wedge sucks. Just garbage unmakeable close out shorepound. Super heavy/hollow and extremely dangerous too. Fun video to watch though. I highly doubt LBI was as big as that swell that hit the newport area on those dates. The waves were 30 foot plus at the wedge.

mikeb, please go back to boards where you can post about dogs being a terror on society, volvos, and muscles. A) from all your idiotic posts on here, you know nothing about wave riding, B) the wedge is a great experience, especially if you sponge. have had the opportunity several times, and have immensely enjoyed every one. C) those ARE NOT 30' waves, learn how to gauge actual wave height, and D) danger is part of the fun.

volvo's and muscles? WTF? That 2009 july swell brought near 30 foot waves. Read up on it genius. Dude you obviously have rocks in your head if you ride the wedge when there's a swell in water. It's a high risk low reward wave. Every set destroys you. I hope you have a good chiropractor/health insurance. All that risk for a 5 second ride that pounds you into the sand If you find that fun, fine. I don't care. To me, that's not fun. Your an adrenaline junky....good for you. I don't care. And if your truly an adrenaline junky....there's a much better wave out in Cali called mavericks.
Why don't you show me some photo's of you riding the wedge when its really pumpin big man?

Dude and as far me knowing nothing about wave riding. Your just some sand bar bound mid Atlantic internet troll. That's why you think the wedge is so great. Because it reminds you of MOST, not all, of the garbage beach break waves on the mid Atlantic with horrible paddle out's...no form...and short rides that close out with super steep/almost impossible at times drops that pound you into the sand.

Want a good extremely dangerous hollow wave....look at pipeline or teahpoo. It's dangerous and not for me, but at least it delivers. The wedge is crap. Oh and dogs are responsible for more human fatalities than sharks, bears, lions, tigers and every other animal combined. Why don't you look at some statistics of the amount of dog bites per year thanks mainly to irresponsible dog owners. Someone else brought up dogs before I did talking about them ****ting everywhere.

...hey, I didn't think that this threat was meant to be a throwdown between posters, I think the purpose should be to point out how we are poorly treated by the authorities, when we're the ones who should be permitted to get our fair share of better waves, esp. when swimmer are at risk and good surfers are not! I mean, just look at what the "surfriders foundation" does to make the beach a better place for all to enjoy, then those f*ckers want to throw their weight around and piss on some surfer, making him pay 600 bones for doing what he was meant to do! That just sucks! (..and as an aside, while some lifeguards are cool - I should know, I spent 5 summers guarding in Assateague State Park, some are truly power hungry fascists who want to control everybody'e behavior on the beach) That said, I don't want to hear from some b*llsh*t guard who wants to tell me that they are all cool, knowledgeable and should be respected! Some may be good, but some will go in to pull out a 10 year old in waist deep water, just to show how great a "beach manager" he/she is! I say, if you're going to take away our beach during the summer, when the storms come, GIVE US BACK OUR F*CKING BEACH! Most of us DO know what we're doing! Nuff said!

This guy "emptym" just likes to bait me.

Well said. :) Yeah and we have to stop these people from "replenishing" projects that destroy good surfing area's.

you'd love my town (claremont). we have a "no dog" rule at all parks except DOG park, next to the little league field, which is right next to the tracks. since my dog is a wild fiend, he stays on my leash. no beach, no park, no fleas. hahahah my dog at dog beach would be one brawl after another...come to think of it, it'd be hilarious.:D

simple rule...bad dog=bad owner, myself included...except i know my dog's issues and do not inflict him on anyone....

Juvenile attempt at calling me gay without getting an infraction because I said there's more consistent swell in spring and fall than winter.. Yes not liking an animal makes you gay. That's logical and very mature. So you hate gay people then I'm guessing? Anyway, that's the biggest load of crap I've ever heard. Ever been to nyc and seen all the "queens" with their dogs in Carl shurz park and central park? And woman like dogs just as much as men. "must love dogs"....I can't tell you how many females I've seen say that. Some females though don't like dogs. It really just depends on the person. Some have a sickness an treat them like a human child, which of course results in the dogs being bad because it's a pack animal that instinctively wants a pack leader.

It's more irresponsible owners that I have the problem with, not the dogs. It's more a matter of basic decency and respect for others and recognizing that a dog is still a potentially aggressive pack animal with teeth and instincts to kill and people, especially children and seniors, shouldn't have to put up with being harassed/attacked. Any dog can bite. Like I said, I'm willing to share. It's just the fact that in most towns the dogs basically go anywhere there's a park. I'd like to go for a walk in a park or even sports fields and relax/walk/run without dogs running loose. Just another example of people just thinking about themselves and not willing to share and think about the needs of others. Not much to ask. I'm all for building dog parks. Some people are so stupid they don't even want to take their dog to the dog park and they run them off leash just outside the dog park. Just ridiculous.

Oh and if your dog does bite someone off leash, which is always a possibilty, I hope you don't have much assets because you are going to get your ass sued off. There's a reason insurance companies don't like to insure people with rottweilers and other large powerful breeds. Especially if it's a large breed and does major damage, in which case it's likely animal control will rightfully take away the dog and euthanize it. Dianne whipple who was killed by 2 presa canario's.....the owners recieved I think about 15 years in prison for manslaughter. You as the owner are responsible for the animal.
